On January 18, 2014, I 'Googled' Sons of Anarchy Leather, and was directed to Moviestarjackets.com.  I saw a beautiful picture of a Motorcycle Vest Repilca entitled "Sons of Anarchy Leather Vest".  I was elated!  I couldn't wait to place my order, especially since the site showed the original price of $180.00 marked down to $99.00 with FREE shipping and an additional discount of $10 using the coupon code EXTRA10.

I looked for additional discriptions, there were none, just options of size.  I clicked Buy Now and was directed to another site called:

<www.storenvy.com/products/4460998/sons-of-anarchy-leather-vest>

Again no description of the item but the jacket was there I entered my size and added the item to my cart but when I entered the coupon code, the site said the code was not valid.  I remarked in the note to seller box when I paid through PayPal. "I attempted the advertized EXTRA10 discount code to save $10 and get free shipping... The site wouldn't allow the discount and it charged $9.99 for shipping"  They never responded!

Finally on Feb 13, 2014 the vest was delivered.  I didn't get home until the 15th and when I opened the package my heart sank.  It was a very stiff, fake leather vest with the patches cheaply applied.  Any mogtorcyclist wearing a vesgt like this would be punched out for such horrible sewing of their patches.  I immediately filed a claim with PayPal for receiving FRAUD! The company stated "It was advertized as SYNTHETIC and NO discount was offered they are doing the same thing on their other site <www.celebsjacket.com/products/sons-of-anarchy-leather-vest.html> This site states the product is Quality Synthetic Leather and shows a coupon code for SAVE14 to save $14.00.  Try to apply the code after getting redirected and it also is not valid!

They removed the vest from the Moviestarjacket.com site and have told customers it was dicontinued.  So sad that they didn't realize some cunsumers are smarter than they give credit.  They won't reslove giving me the discount and free shipping, plus money back for the false advertizing, I requested $69.99 and they only want the vest back, at my expense, and will refund the original $99.00.  I am going to keep the vest and file charges of FRAUD with the Florida State's Attorney's Office

Rebuttal over the complaint

AUTHOR: MovieStarJacket - ()

Over here, I would like everyone to please consider the fact that both the Real leather and/or Synthetic leather are jointly termed as "Leather" & the stores sell their product calling them to be leather. In the specification section, the further details are given like whether the product is made up of Real leather i.e. Cowhide leather, Lambskin leather, Sheepskin leather & etc OR it is made up of Synthetic leather. One must read the specs carefully before he or she decides whether to shop. Below is the copy of the specs we had on the product page before it was discontinued:

 Specification:

  • Available in Synthetic Leather
  • Quality Craftsmanship
  • Inside Polyester Lining
  • Sleeveless Style
  • Stand-up Collar with tattoo
  • Snap-button Front Closure
  • Two Flap Pockets At The Vest
  • Two Inside Pockets
  • Two Labels At The Chest & A Label At The Abdomen
  • Grim Reaper Label At The Back

In the very first of its specs, we specified it to be made up of "Synthetic leather" & one must not misunderstand it to be Real leather. The name of the product was, “Sons Of Anarchy Leather Vest” and it also does not show in any way that it is made up of Real leather. The name just says “Leather” & in specs, we identified it to be made up of Synthetic leather.

We never meant to deceive anyone & that is why we have discontinued selling the said product for the time being to avoid any confusion in future. Furthermore, we were not selling the said product directly at our store. We were selling it via our affiliation with Storenvy (a third party, a marketplace) & our store's coupons & offers were not valid over there. We always appreciate our valued customers to contact us, if in case of any confusion OR query. We never received any email from the customer during the checkout process else we would have tried our best to make him understand the scenario. We received the emails from the customer after the vest was shipped to him & if he had emailed us prior checkingout OR the time when he had any question with regards to the product itself OR the coupons or any other discount offers, we would humbly ask him not to shop if he seemed to be uncertain for any reason OR would have made him understand every detail. Online customers do understand that when they shop at a marketplace, the policies of that marketplace are applied.

Furthermore, the dispute was reported to PayPal & as per the decision made by PayPal, we were supposed to issue the refund to the customer & the customer was supposed to ship the item back to us. Mr. Thomas, the valued customer, did not find it convenient & only for the sake of his happiness, we issued him the refund of $70.00 back to him. Throughout the transaction, we did try our best to resolve the matter assuring the happiness of our customer. This rebuttal only means to present our side of the truth to the audience because silence at this stage would be more like being guilty, which we are not. The dispute between us is only because of the "misunderstanding" & I would never consider it as an attempt to either make a fraudulent transaction OR a transaction aimed at exploiting any of us.

We always believe in open & prompt communication and we always try our best to respond to our customers' queries as soon as possible. Thanks for your time.

Refund finally given!

AUTHOR: Angry Consumer - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 01, 2014

Finally, after several emails and threats and providing all the pictures and links to the seller showing their errors and discrepancies; they agreed that their style of advertizing could be misunderstood.  They did refund $70 back to my PayPal account only if I promised to remove my RipOff report. I said I would update it, and I am.

They are still under the belief that calling something "Leather" also includes synthetic leather, fake leather, etc.  I have found nice Real leather vests at several stores and truck stops for under $100 and I will be purchasing one of those and transferring the patches accordingly.

It is a shame that the only way to get a business to "Do the right thing" is to document and threaten legal action.
