Mr. Handyman of Papillion is truly a horrible company. Do not use this company. This is the kind of company you end up hearing about on Dateline. We were planning to install laminated on our old countertops a week before Christmas. That week I started having issues with my back so I asked my wife to see if she could find someone to install the $300+ laminate I’d bought. She got several bids, one being from Mr. Handyman of Papillion. They told they had done this before and it would be no more than four hours to install and would run us $400 at the max. So we decided to go ahead and have them install it.
Everything was prepped and ready. We should have known something was wrong when they showed up an hour and a half late. Work was supposed to start at 8:00am they didn’t arrive until 9:30am. [continued below]....
When I did finally have a chance to look over the work I saw that the seam they had put in the counter was almost a quarter inch too wide at the end. I saw bubbles on the countertop and chips all over the laminate. My wife took one look and started to cry. We also saw that they charged us for an extra hour of work. Their time they started was 8:30am, did I just pay $150.00 for someone to eat breakfast? The next day she called up Mr. Handyman of Papillion and was told they would make it right and that she should just go lie down and take it easy. My wife was worried and decided to cancel the check even though they promised not to cash it until the work was fixed. Glad she did because with a few hours they had tried to cash the check.
I’d had enough. I called and spoke to the customer rep there. She proceeded to tell me it was my materials and that I was just trying to get a discount. I explain our issue and explained that I’d done my research on the materials used and that no one who had used either the glue or the laminate had any issues. Having planned on doing this I also did my research on how laminate was installed. At the time I thought I had it wrong because the “professionals” were doing it differently. Nope they were doing it wrong. When I brought this up she said she would send someone out there to look at the issues. I said no, we had sent several photos and I wasn’t going to have someone come out and give me the run around. I wanted to know how the company planned on fixing the issues. The only option I saw was full replacement but I was willing to hear a solution. I was told they would call us in a few days with options.
I waited patiently for their call instead I received a notification that they had put a lien on our house. Thanks Mr. Handyman of Papillion you’ve managed to destroy my countertops and expected to get paid for the truly awful work. For your own sake don’t use this company.
