Beware of Silver Breeders who are breeding silver to silver! This is producing masses of poor quality labradors. Silvers are produced when both parents are carriers of the dilute gene. Breeding 2 dogs that are actually dilute in color is a gross neglect of all the known factors involved in genetics. These breeders know this and are still doing it to produce silvers and charcoals which can fetch them up to $10,000 a litter! If you want to buy a silver or charcoal lab then only buy from those breeders who are producing them from silver carriers. They will likely be sold with limited breeding rights thus preventing the amatuer from taking on breeding for money reasons which has caused this terrible problem to esculate.

Websites like Hollie's Muddy River Labs are selling only these colors and are producing them using these questionable practices. They sell to anyone who has the money and even allow them to be bred from. Reputable Breeders only allow a very few select ones to bred and will likely not allow those that are sold to pet buyers to be bred. Most of the silver breeders involved in this network are also puppy brokers....traveling all over the country and buying up all the silvers they can find and then selling them all over the country from their websites. Known members are Lori Osborn, Sparta NC, Kellyn, Silver Star Kennel in Texas and Heather Gibbs, the sister of Hollie who owns Muddy River Labs. They are all doing this and making alot of money from it and then they are NOT honoring their warranties. Spread the word about these breeders who are using this method to pollute the Lab poulation. They all claim to love labs but they continue to practice this breeding method when they all know how bad it is. Genetics should be practiced by those who are willing to sacrifice money for wealth of knowledge and to gain improvement in the Silver Labrador!

Muddy River Labs - Hollie Chaney

AUTHOR: Hollie Chaney - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, March 11, 2010

Yes, I Breed

dilute and dilute factored dogs; I have also gone out of my way to watch pedigrees and breed blood lines of one dog to different lines of another as to never line breed. These allegations are much like saying two white people having a baby is bad or you shouldnt breed one blonde person to another (Now that is silly isnt it) however a more precise statement would be you should not breed a brother to a sister or a mother to a son, which I would NEVER do. So in laim-mens terms, by golly, dont go get pregnant if you and your spouse both have brown hair or heaven forbid you both have red hair that will really produce problems. (Sorry, I have to laugh at the lack of thought that was put into these statements when they were typed) I dont claim to be a professor in genetics or a geneticist however I do know my dogs and their heath, each one like the back of my hand as I have again, gone out of my way to have genetic tests run to insure their health before they even enter my breeding program. (as I can also testify to the same for my sister Heather Gibbs). We have run every test from OFA, EIC,PRCD,DNA, Hips, eyes, cardiac, coat color typing, etc.

What the author of this post would have you believe is that all genetic testing should be thrown out the window because breeding dilute factored to dilute factored is the only way to improve and that could not be farther from the truth . The fact is that any dog that passes all health clearances is breeding quality. To base the decision on coat color instead of testing by a licensed professional is uneducated to say the least.

When we (Myself, Heather, and other breeders mentioned in these ridiculous claims) run these tests on our dogs, we are not only insuring the quality of our dogs but many of the tests we pay to have done also clear other dogs in the dilute breeding programs around the country and even in other countries as well depending on the bloodlines of the dog the tests were run on. For example; if I do a coat color test on a male that I have, the results come back and I learn that my boy does indeed carry the dilute gene (dd) then that also guarantees his parents both carried the dilute gene. Many tests act this way. Now Im not saying that if I have a dog that is OFA hips and elbows excellent or good, that breeder A had parents with the same results but my ethics have me do the research to find out about the parents OFA results before I even bought the puppy in the first place, so I do know their results on such tests. And, many of these testing companies have a database that you can look up dogs at your own leisure to find out the results of many of these tests as well which is very nice when you are looking to purchase a puppy.

Some simple research on genetics will clear up the misconstrued information that is being posted here.

A puppy is a new family addition, a life long commitment for the life of your new family companion and to say that you would give up a family companion for any imperfection is the same as saying you would give up your child if he or she were born nearly blind.. I dont think so! However I (We) do have a 2 year written health guarantee that we stand behind 100%, our health guarantees cover against genetic defects that would come from such things as a bad OFA report or something else genetic like that. I have an excellent relationship with puppy families and we still communicate frequently; and should they ever want another family companion they would come back to me, I have no doubt. It all boils down to one persons freedom of speech and a website that wont even take the time to find out if the facts are real before even posting the information.

I personally started breeding dilute Labrador retrievers in May 2006 and launched a website February 2007 which is all public knowledge on the internet, so you do the math! If several of the breeders mentioned werent even in business then how can we all be a *Network of Deceptive Breeders * Fact or fiction, I think these stories are quite funny and an interesting choice of words on so many levels  that I cant even begin to fathom how they came up with their information as I know their timelines for others are inaccurate thus all the stories they are telling are bold lies too.

Charcoal And Silver Labs - Heather Gibbs

AUTHOR: Heather - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 02, 2010

I would like to make it know that this is a malicious attack of my character and reputation as a breeder and human being. All of these slanderous statements are 100 % false and are outrageous lies .I want to make it very clear that I do not purchase other breeders pups or litters for resale nor do I sale other breeders litters , I do post links to help others out from time to time and that is free of charge as a courtesy . I do not work with any other breeders, there is no network of deceptive breeders , there is no truth in any of the outrageous statements posted , there is no great conspiracy theory .This is nothing more than an attack against reputable and ethic breeders by an obvious unethical and cowardly person. These allegations are those of a coward and are posted on a cowardly website that would allow anyone to post anything they like using any made up name and location and spread false accusations about others all the while standing behind the 1st Amendment Right of Freedom of Speech.. This website refuses to remove the slanderous posting and they do not validate the posts submitted to determine whether they are fact or fiction. The events claimed in this post are pure fabrication, they never took place, I have never sold to this person nor do I know who this person is. One can only wonder what the motives are behind this individuals attack against so many breeders . All breeders and buyers should do a search on www.ripoffreport.com and look at the dozens of people who have been slandered and defamed on this website and who are currently involved in civil cases against them. And make the decision yourself on what kind of website this is and the character of the cowards that post on their site hiding behind their 1st Amendment rights and made up identities. We have retained an attorney to legally pursue the ones responsible in this matter and are confident it will be resolved quickly. I welcome anyone interested in a puppy from us to make a trip out to see us or speak with someone that has, I stand behind every dog I own and every puppy I sell.

Lori Osborn www.silvermoonlabs.net

AUTHOR: Lori - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 14, 2010

I am not a member of any deceptive ring of breeders nor do I travel all over the country buying up silvers and selling them on my website. We sell only our puppies from our dogs in our breeding program.

It saddens me that someone can go on this website and write malicious lies and false accusations about anyone without any consequences for their actions.

We stand behind our breeding program and every puppy sold 100%.
