We purchased a large sectional couch for $1300 plus tax.  It appears as if this furniture is manufactured very cheaply and was probably made for $200 as after sitting on the couch one of the main boards split completely, causing the springs to come loose and is now sunk in and unfixable.  

How does a board split from simply sitting down on a couch?  Obviously the couch was put together with low quality board and is a POS.  I reached out to the company to see if they would offer a store credit or replacement and am waiting for their response.  We will see how their customer service is.

The company contacted me very quickly and offered to replace the furniture with a brand new one or allow us to select something from the store for equal value.  That is what you call great customer service!  Very impressed with this.

It depends...

 Them assisting you is going to depend on a couple of factors. One is WHEN did you purchase it. If it is beyond the usual 30 day return window AND you do not have an extended warrenty then they probably wont be able to do anything for you. If youre claiming a MANUFACTURING defect then you have to point your inquires to the manufacturer. They are the ONLY ones who can do anything after the return window is closed.

Let me give you a tidbit of info. When you attempt to claim a manufacturer defect claim, the manufacturer sends an investigator over. If they find even the SMALLEST issue to invalidate the warrenty they will do so. So try and clean up the item. If they find its NOT a manufacturing defect, you can oftimes get issues like a underboard fixed for a small amount of cash. I have had PLENTY of antique furniture rebuilt and recovered and its not that expensive and those are antiques.
