THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
I lived in Timmaron Ridge Apartments for a year. During that time we had several different leasing managers and the office staff seemed to change every few months. The office staff was rude and unprofessional. So was the liason from the corporate office, Myan Management. They cared nothing for tenants. The company was very abusive to tenants, office staff would walk into units unannounced and without knocking and would frequently harrass, threaten and intimidate tenants from what I saw. This company through their staff would often inflate charges and charged sky high late fees for the slummish apartments people were living in. The units were crime filled and run down.
When Myan Management suddenly decided to sell the units, they suddenly started throwing everyone out and looking for reasons to evict people out the blue all the while adding erroneous fees to the tenants totalling hundreds of dollars the tenants could not explain. Most tenants were poor and black. They had no knowledge of the law and were highly distrustful of the courts. As soon as these people left, the company would not even give them time to pay these inflated, unsubstantiated charges and they immediately placed all the charges on their credit reports in effect holding these folks hostage. They didn't care that the apartments were in such shabby condition and that several times during the summer tenants would find they had no air and twice we had no water. My A/C repeatedly went out and I would go days without air in the middle of HOT Dallas Summers. I had to call repeatedly to get things fixed because the apartments were in such shabby condition. These people did not care. Found every which a way to rip you off.
They then assigned out the debt to ProCollect Collection Agency who would often call and harrass the emergency contacts on the applications. I complained to the Texas Attorney General and Procollect's manager lied like they were not harrassing my parents. The company would call and hang up repeatedly to my elderly parents and then when asked who was calling would say they were a "Temp Agency" before abruptly hanging up. My mom has AT&T and she had to trace the number to find out it was the collection agency.
Before the sale of the property the new manager of the company was overly aggressive with tenants and would often walk up on tenants, get in verbal altercations, hang up on tenants who called the office with apartment issues, and was caught sticking her finger in the face of two tenants who copmlained about the apartment. She would also physically threaten and yell at tenants. She had the entire Apartment Complex empty in just a month. They were throwing tenants out literally overnight. Myan Management Group railroaded their tenants in a last ditch attempt to increase their profit margins right before the sale. The apartments are now Arbor Vista in Dallas, TX.
