I started attending this institution about 4 months ago, after I had witnessed my own sister having her issues there, i chose to ignore them and still try it out for myself. Big Mistake! My first semester went fairly well, my teachers were excellent, and my advisor seemed to know what he was talking about with my classes, that turned out to be false. So,going into this current semester with a 3.5 GPA, and going one night a week on Thursday, first class going from 6-8, second class from 8-10pm. I was told that my schedule would still be the same this semester only one night a week still, same as last semester.

The current semester started three weeks ago. The first week of classes we had a snow storm here and I first called into the front desk and asked if class was still going on and they said yes, I said I lived on the end of town and if the roads were bad I would be calling back they said ok it was a gentlemen on the phone. I tried driving but quickly turned around and when I called this time it was a young lady, I gave her my information and that was it. So next Thursday comes around and I head to class. I show up and I’m told that I have been DROPPED from my classes! When finally getting to speak to an advisor to find out what in the world is going on, I’m told that they had tried calling me and left several messages and they assumed I was not attending and dropped me. She also says that there weren’t any notes in the system that I had called.

At this point I’m really confused, i asked her what phone number did you call me on and she lists my old work number, that was never my primary number and have been contacted on my mobile by my in initial advisor several times. I also asked what email address and she says the wrong email address mine is lakersfan505, she says lakersfan504. I am beside myself at this point. I am then told that these classes are not 2 hours each but 4 hours each and that I was scheduled for 2 nights a week! I was never told that, and one class was scheduled at the main campus and the other at the campus across town! Meanwhile I am feeling really uncomfortable  by the way this advisor is talking to me like it was my fault! She then says that she can get me in the classes still, or I can take them Online. I have never taken online classes, and wasn’t going to go to 2 different campuses twice a week. I told her I would take the night to think it over and left home

Day 2. I call my advisor and he says heard about my scheduling issues and apologized and then stated that he didn’t know what happened with my classes, he said maybe they got changed around right before  the semester started, well the other advisor told me they have never been 2 hours long always 4 so I also asked him why he didn’t contact me if there was an issue with attendance? I had asked several times at this point if all of this was going to affect my financial aid and they said NO! So I signed up for the online and call my financial aid advisor and left a message. 

I then spoke to the Dean and I expressed  my situation and how I counted on that Grant Money he said I would still be getting my Grant and that it's being processed and that nothing would change about my financial aid. He is going to figure out why I cannot login and had me do the new student orientation to see if that corrected the problem and it did not. I didn’t get a call back for 4 days from my Financial Aid advisor and was told that since I was dropped from my classes that I will not be receiving my Pell Grant Money because my name didn’t make it on their list they submitted to the DOE

Meanwhile it’s the 3rd week of classes and I still can’t even login to the system says I’m not a student, the Dean can’t figure out why I can’t login. And on top of that If I can’t pay for my books I have to wait 4 months to come back to school in the Spring he says. And that Pell Grant was the only money I had coming in as I am a full time dad. Losing out on the Grant because of their mistakes has made life very stressful for me after I have done all I am supposed to do as a student. I am now filing a Grievance and will be going up the ladder until someone helps me. This was my sons Christmas money and money to buy my books and any materials needed and they will not get away with this!
