Received a call regarding sweepstakes which I was one of 50 people in the running for the grand prize of either 25,000.00 in cash, new car, or vacation. They requested me to buy at least one magazine subscription.

I requested the TV Guide and they added 2 other magazines to my order and never disclosed what the cost would be to me.  They hit my bank account for 70.41 on 10/31/09. Before I had received any paperwork on this proposed purchase.  Then when the paperwork came in the mail, it informed me that they would be taking 70.41 out of my account each month for 12 months.

I called customer service and explained to them I wanted to cancel my account.  They refered me to a supervisor who was supposed to send me the paperwork to cancel the account after I told them that no money amount was mentioned in the conversation I had. They said the conversation was recorded so I told them to listen to the recording and they would see that there was no discussion of money amount to be paid.

Then today 12/01/09 I received in the mail another letter telling me that if I return the signed letter within 10 days they will update my account and stop advanced billing on my card.  Unfortunately the letter was dated  11/23/2009 and I received it on 12/01/2009.  This does not give me enough time to get it back to them in order to stop them from debiting my account.  I called customer service number on the top of the letter and my phone was blocked at their end.  So now I wait to see if they debit my account because my cancelation letter will not be received in the time period allowed. The customer service number is 1-800-497-0814.

The 2 monthly magazines were not added to your order, they are part of a promotional package and you do not pay for them. When you are called by the supervisor, you chose to give your cc info and were told about the billing, how much, and authorized that first payment on that day. We then send out a detailed confirmation letter, with your mags, how much it will cost total, the cost per month, and your gift selections. The "paperwork" you  received was your cancellation agreement, which states how many payments you cancel and that you agree. Also that any returned items to the publishers will cost a fee. If you original payment was on 10/31 and u received the cancellation on 12/01 it gave you plenty of time to send it back in to have the remaining payments canceled. Without it, your account will not be canceled and you will still be billed. if you have any further questions about your account please give our CS dept a call.
