NCO Financial Group started calling my home number at least three weeks ago. They would call multiple times a day, up to 6, usually only leaving "Please hold for an important message from one of our representatives" followed by "We're sorry, all of our representatives are currently busy" on my answering machine.

Over a week ago I began catching them when they called. The first two representatives informed me they were looking for a David. I clearly told them that this number has been in my control for over 12 years and that no one named David has ever lived here. The first representative argued with me as to who did and didn't live there. Each representative told me they would have my number removed.

Eight days later I'm still receiving 4 to 6 calls a day from NCO and their story keeps changing as to how long it takes to get your number out of their system.

NCO is too dumb for words

AUTHOR: Jace - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 10, 2006

Saying NCO's "specialists" are incompetent is like saying water is wet and the sky is blue. Their game plan is to intimidate you, even when you have all the facts straight and they don't have a leg to stand on. I've posted about my own dealings with NCO here before, but suffice it to say I had a cancelled check to prove the debt in question was paid, and NCO got really beligerent and started accusing me of fraud. Once I faxed them a copy of the check, they went away for good.

I'd send them a Cease Communications letter and keep sending it ever time they call. Be sure to contact your state AG, the FTC, BBB, XYZ etc, whoever you can to get the abuse to stop. Be forewarned though, these guys are dumber than dirt and won't stop easily.

Do what worked for me..

Jeff,

The only thing NCO understands is when you turn the harassment back on them.

You can download a dialer program for free from the internet [shareware]. Program in every phone# for every NCO office. Program it to redial every 2 minutes.

"Please hold for an important message...thanks for holding...we appreciate your patience..."

Make this message exactly 1 minute 40 seconds. Then in 20 seconds they will get it again.

Now get every fax# for NCO. Make a cease communications letter and make 150 copies of it or whatever the max capacity of your fax machine is. At approx. 2 hrs after office closing time, fax these 150 or so copies to every NCO fax#. Run them out of paper and toner, and prevent them from getting any other faxes. AND if they have a good machine, at least 50-100 pages will be held in memory, so when they reload the paper and toner, it will start all over again!

Now they cannot say they did not get your Cease Comm letter.

IF they can use harassment on us, turnabout is fair play.

I did this and they lost my name, phone# and address. I don't exist to NCO.

The only thing NCO responds to is a summons

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

If you really want to get NCO out of your life you will have to sue them. Here's what I would do:

1. Send them a CMRRR stating that "David" does not live at your telephone number (provide the number they are calling) and that they are forbidden to call you or David at that phone number. Also state that if they do call you or Davod at that number, you will file suit.

2. Once you recieve the green card back, wait. The first time they call, get the collector's name.

3. File suit under Fair Debt Collection Practices Act against both NCO and the collector personally for $1,000 each. You can do this in your local small claims court.

At this point you will either be paid $1,000 for each annoying telephone call or the calls will cease.

Send them a letter

AUTHOR: Heather - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 09, 2006

Jeff:

Send them a letter via certified mail return receipt demanding that they cease calling your telephone number [make sure to reference it] in pursuit of David.

Make sure to state that you expect communications to stop effective 5 days from the receipt of the letter as evidenced by the return receipt (this is a reasonable timeframe).

If they fail to cease their calls, make a log of every call you receive. After logging in as many that you have the stomach for, go consult with a consumer law attorney. You can sue them and recover damages and attorney's fees.

Don't suffer fools. Make them listen to you.
