I was charged 14 months for $8.64 from Netflix. I didn't notice the charges until recently and when disputed both Netfilx and Capital One admit the charges were bogus. I don't even have an account nor to I ever want one from Netflix. After admiting the charges were fraud Netflix only credited I month and disputed the other 13 months stating that although the charge were fraud they will keep the money and allow Capital One, who is insured to return the money. Does this sound like Netflix should be investigated by the FBI on criminal charges? It appears that Netfix charges various credit cards, keeps the money and allows the insurance to pay dispect being aware of the fraud. How is this any different than a thief who break into my house steal something with the idea that my insurance will pay. The question below asked if I used a credit card for this transaction and No I didn't someone else charged my account without my knowledge or concent.

why do you care?

Robert why do you care? Jesus loves you and so do I.
Your right my normal procedure is to check every transaction but somehow this slipped by I'm sure many consumers are affected by this fraud but it doesn't make it right. When you mulitply 8.64 x 100,000 it can be quite lucative, so it is no wonder why Netflix condons it and apparently you do as well and why Netflix should be investigated and the policy changed.
I never accidently agreed to this charge and certainly was not my intention to pay for something I didn't want or ever asked for. The main contention is Netflix agreed it was fraud and bogus but it is company policy to officially dispute the clain and allow my credit card insurance to pick up the bill.
So much to your dismay I will be reimbursed. Quite a racket for Netflix, when perpetrated on a large scale but little at a time.
There was and bank fraud that syphoned fractions of a cent by rounding error that over time and quantiy of transactions yielded a large sum of money. This was highly frowned upon by officials.
Anyway thanks for allowing me to fully explore this subject that others will learn to be careful with Netflix bogus and fraudulent charges.
May the peace of God and His glorious light shine on this situation that the perpetrators of this crime be brought to justice.

so you think

Ok if some steals something from you and you don't notice for a long period of time then the person or company acknowledges that the items were stolen and a fraud has been commited but keeps them anyway you believe they are justified to keep them just because insurance will reimburse me?
No I think this happens all the time and it is Netflix policy to keep the money and who is to say that this is not a company originated plan. Syphoning a few dollars each month for thousands of people can be lucative. This I suspose in your universe is acceptable and why it could be a larger company policy that effects many people and the reason for the call for investigation.
How strange you are and you must be an employee of Netflix who came up with this illegal policy or the fraudulent persson who steals identities as a business plan. I earn my money legally and you have no reason to be so insulting. May your identity be jeapordized and understand the situation from a busy persons view that may not notice a buried charge.
However, I understand you are just crying out from your pain and need the saving grace of Jesus to save your soul.
thanks for caring and may you turn to the Lord for hope. :)

The FBI has better things to do

Seriously, YOU failed to monitor your account for 14 months and now want to bring in the FBI for your own negligence.
How they got your number..who knows. But there is not some vast sinister secret plan by NetFlix to just randomly start charging credit cards and hope that the person getting charged doesn't watch their accounts. Perhaps you signed up for a free trial, perhaps a company you did business with signed you up.
You see Federal Law states you only have 60 days to dispute a transaction, after that you are pretty much SOL. So even the Federal Government expects YOU the account holder to monitor your accounts more than once every year. So don't expect the FBI to jump on your case and get your money back for you.
Had you found this after the first month and they failed to credit the money..yep right there with you. But after a few months....and in your case 14 months of you failing to monitor your account the responsibility now turns to YOU and YOU alone. Oh and don't give us the story that you don't have enough time to monitor your accounts, or try and claim that you do monitor your accounts and just never noticed this charge because it was so small. Because both of those are BS exuses, as anyone who truly does monitor their accounts keeps a written register and verifies it against their monthly statement to make sure there are no unauthorized purchases.
Oh..and as for your example of someone breaking into your house. Yes, if you waited 14 months before you reported the theft to your insurance company don't expect them to pay your claim either.
