This company is not addressing flooding in Sacred Heart Apartments where I live, they have come and removed kitchen cabinets in my Apartment because of mold, but only after I let them know I was calling the board of health, they made me find somewhere to stay though, while they were fixing the problem.

They have not addressed the issue of the water coming in though, and water is still coming into the building.

They have carpet in the common hallway that has sat wet with only a fan to dry it, first time it flooded they used a shop vac to get rid of some the water but it was left so wet that u could hear splashing when i drove my wheelchair through it.  It has flooded approximately 4 times now and the carpet stinks and isn't being cleaned or removed.

Now i have found mold and water damage in my bathroom, they said, "I don't see any mold" and that's it.  They are leaving someone with Muscular Dystrophy in an apartment and exposing them to mold.

The board of health has recommended they fix the problem and they were back here today because of the new mold found and asked if the management offered to put me in a different apartment, I let them know they have not offered and are not planning on cleaning the new mold found or repairing the water damage.

Things Maybe getting fixed now!

AUTHOR: Robin - (United States of America)

I am in a hotel tonight supplied by New Generation Management, it's a real nice one, i have my compter here, it's almost like home, they will reimburse me $5 a meal for four meals, and hotel supplies breakfast.  They are suppose to fix all the damage in two days, i go home Friday at 11am.  I am really nervous about wheter they will really check it all really good make sure there is no more, I am nervous about not being home, but i feel a slight relief that things might really be getting fixed, but if they don't fix where the water is coming in, the mold will just come back, and my dad said he found mold in my sisters apartment she lives down the hall from me, so now i'm worried about her and all the rest the people down there, they are basement apartments.  And I don't think they are using a mold remmediaton company I think they are having their maintenance crew do it, and the one that told me there was no mold actually rubbed his hand around in that cabinet, even after i protested about it, he was probably releasing more mold into the air.  He even said he couldn't smell anything, and there is a strong odor coming from them.

I had to find my own transportation for me and my wheelchair, they refused to transport me, even though i have no vehicle.  Luckily there are still people and churches that help, a church van came and got me, and a friend and his brother carried my things for me.

I also found more mold before I left, in my bedroom, wow did that scare me, mold right in where I sleep.  I still think when i found the first mold that the entire apartment should of been checked by cerified mold remmedation company, you don't risk peoples health to save a few bucks,  I had to call the county board of health and the actual owner to get it fixed, I just can't believe it's ok for this to go on and I have to go to such extremes to get it fixed.  I have called the board of health 3 times, and they were there 3 times, first time was when they working on the first mold I found and i wasn't in the apartment, they didn't let the guy in  and acted like they didn't know who I was. Second and third time I let them in my apartment and showed them the problems, they said they would send the owner a letter, that the water problem needed fixed. I contacted the code office and the state board of health, they said if the county board of health didn't get anywhere to call the attorney general.  I quailified for low income volunteer lawyer consultation and am waiting for him to call. I can't really remember how many calls I have made. At first they were just gonna wipe things down and not check under the wood, even though it was coming up through the crack in the wood, the managers manager, or something like that, said, we can't take that cabinet outta there. There was mold all way down the crease where the wood meets up against the wall.  But after calling the board of health and the owner, they replaced all the bottom kitchen cabinets, now my top cabinets don't match the bottoms one, rofl, which were all found to have mold in them after i pulled out all my things.

FYI: They wiped up the mold with me in the apartment with no masks on, but they did have me stay somewhere else, that i had to find, when they pulled out all of the cabinets, but they didn't cover my stuff up with plastic or clean up the mess, and my toilet seat was left up, gross, and they left some of the moldy wall board in my trash, but they did credit me some of my rent back.

But what really fired me up is when the maintenance man said, "there's no mold in there".  Made me feel like they all thought i was stupid or that my disibility was mental retardation.

I just hope there's not an indoor fountain the next time it rains when I get home.  So far it looks good, but i'm not ready to sing praises yet. But I am really glad they started doing the right thing and get me outta that mess.
