On January 29, 2014 around 6pm, I went to Oasis Naik salon to get a refil to my nails and pedicure. I usually go to this salon about every 2 or 3 weeks as needed. The night I left the shop, I chipped my nail. Then that morning at work I chipped, 2 more, and decide to go back to the nail that I recently got my nails done, so they can fix the issue. No problem.
1/30/14 When I got to the nail shop, the nail tech that I saw wasn't there. However, this. Manager, Donna was, and told me that a man by the name of Sam would fix my chip nails. Again, no problem. I sit down at his desk and show him the issues and I asked him to build out the arylic on top of my real nail, since I had an overlay on top of my real nails. He nodded as if he understood.
As I begin to have a conversation with lady next to me about Shellac and nails in general. I noticed that the tech wasn't building out the arylic on my nails, he was putting a very think layer of arylic on my of my whole entire nail. It was so noticeable that the lady next me said " that's a lot of arylic" so I told him that was too thick and too much arylic on my nails. He snapped at me and told me that I don't tell him what to do.
At that time I asked him to repeat himself. He then told me, that I don't tell him what to do and that if I say anything else that he won't do my nails. I told him that he doesn't have the right to tell me that I can't question his work on my nails. He then says then come back tomorrow and get someone else to do it, then leaves me at his desk hands with the arylic on.
He then starts speaking in his language to the other workers and manager and begins laughing. I ask for his license then he laughed in my face telling me that the license I saw in front wasn't his. I asked the manager Donna for his name and license. She told him his name was Sam and that he doesn't have it, left it at home. She told me to call the owner Julie who was up the street at her other store Pearl Nail Salon, and she will give it to me. I call Julie on the spot (Sam laughing and grinning) and told her what happen. Julie tells me that it's his first day at work and he forgot it at home but she has it written down here (at her other shop) and for me to come, let her fix my nails, and she will give me his name and license number. I told her I wanted to see his real copy of his license with a photo. She tells me, that she will email me a copy tomorrow morning and to allow her to fix it, The lady (Brooke) next to me ask to speak to Julie on the phone as well and tells her everything that happened. Julie then apologies me and swears to fix the problem.
I leave the store and go to the other nail shop down the street. As Julie is fixing my nails, she isn't interested in talking about the information she promised to give me. She fixes my nails and when done ask she daughter to write down my email address, and walks away. As I'm standing there, I ask the daughter for her mom to come back to the front to talk to me, Julie does, and tells me to go. I told her that I need his real name and his license that you said you had written down here. I'm reporting him to the state tonight. She then raises her voice to me and states that she couldn't fix my nails and that if I report him then I can never come to any of she shops again.
Shocked by the treatment (after being a long time paying coustomer) I asked her why would she threaten me about the reporting him, since I wasn't reporting her, if he indeed has a license. she told me that she's doesnt have his information here, it's at home. She tells me that she will email it to me in the morning. I leave the salon and go home.
The morning I check me email. Nothing. That afternoon I check my email. Nothing still. I call her cell phone, she doesn't answer, so I leave a message. I wait to the evening to check my email and call her back. Nothing and no answer.
The owner (known as Julie) her and husband own the shop in the area that I drive far to come to, as well as 3 other shops in the area. I've been a customer of there's since 2010. I often go to all 3 of their shops for service, mainly because I like Julie's demeanor and professionalism. I'm very shocked that will all of her employees that she has, that she would allow someone in her shop to work without a license. Some of her employees have a license with No picture to verify their true identity. Not only do I spend lots of money to have a good experience, but I was humiliated in front of her staff and customers. I was embarrassed and very hurt on how I was treated. But nothing is worst to be threaten to deny me my right service or to notify my compliant. Most of all, this man publicly humiliated me in from of everyone in that shop.
The costumer who spoke to Julie as well, encouraged me to follow through with my complaint and is offering her testimony towards the truth. I hope that this situation will fix a growing problem of people working without the proper licenses.
Thank you!
