So my mom tells me if I can help her get her money back she will split it with, basically because she has tried and tried to no avail. I have even contacted one news station with no results there, and just recently stumbled onto to Rip Off Report. There is now after all a glimmer of hope she will some type of action taken.
At the counter paying for a new computer, which is supposed to be and exciting time when you work hard and in todays day in and age to some is considered a big moment, well she writes a check to the cashiers who says it has been declined, upset and immediately wanting to know why, mom calls the bank, the bank tells her it is because they dont see that amount to often come out of her account all at once so they wanted to verify it is her, and to use her bank card whereas it will take 24 hrs for there system to update. Okay so all is fine, she gives the cashier the bank card, he runs it, she signs it, done right?
NOOO... the cashier didnt not give her back the check, so she returns to the store having put a call into the police before hand, he tells her he has no record of the check, being the next day it should be on the previous days deposit slip, hmmm, it was NOT the previous days deposit slip and they tell her tough luck. Mom has contacted the home office only to get the run around, the store again, only to be told she is harrassing them, that they cannot help her and chalk it up as a loss.
We do not know who else to contact or where to go, I assumed they might catch it now given the end of the year reports should be due and they may have caught the error, my mom raised me as a single parent, working hard to provide just the bare necessities and to see her ripped off at a time when she should be enjoying her life was truly heartbreaking given that this amount of money is not easy to come by.
