SEO Reputation Management at its best!

I am at this Office Max at least 3 times a week.  I have found most of the employees to be helpful and pleasant.  Exception - a horrid 'new' employee at the copy shop was insulting, accusatory, and downright hostile.  The 'manager' was no better - in fact he was worse when I tried to explain the problem.  They have just lost a long standing customer (at least 10 years of visits 3 times weekly).  Corporate Office Max will be called this week to handle this problem in their store.  If I owned a store, I would want to know how the customers were treated and Office Max will be informed immediately.

#1 UPDATE Employee

UNPROFESSIONAL

AUTHOR: astonishedbyyourreply - (United States of America)

As an employee of Office Max in Illinois, I have sent both of the 'consumer' replies from Marietta, Ga (this person is obviously not a consumer but an employee of the Office Max store in question) to my supervisor.  He will address the problem immediately and was quite concerned about the unprofessional information, accusations, and language in the replies posted on this site.  This is NOT Office Max customer service operating procedure, and some retraining may be necessary.  We are also trying to contact the actual customer to make amends and also receive feedback.   Thank you.

Thanks for making me laugh

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

Do you really think that a person can be sued for making comments on this site?  If she didn't want to deal with peoples opinions, then she should not have posted something on a puplic forum like the internet.  This "customer" continues to this day, to shop at this location 3 times a week.  Still makes rude remarks to the employees and will still only let a couple of them even interact with her.

For an "EX-CUSTOMER" she sure is seen often.  This lady threatens a lot and yet is still frequenting the same location that treats her so poorly.  Obviously there is a different reason for her to shop at OfficeMax (funny how a retail connect card for a business that she doesn't make purchases for keeps a person coming back for the discounts).

If you truely like working for OfficeMax, and you had a "customer" treat your fellow associates the way that this lady treats them, I know that you would tell this customer to leave and never come back (the problem is that she keeps coming back).  The Manager did nothing but stand up for a good associate in a bad situation.  I hope that you work for someone that would have your back when a customer is calling you "horrid" and "stupid" for doing your job.  Obviously it is to much to ask for someone (the customer) to pay for what they use.....(thats why she was an awful employee, because she asked her to either pay for or return some paper).  She believed that there would not be an issue with "bringing back the unused paper next time and payng for it then".  No difference from going to a grocery store, taking a bag full of apples and telling cashier that you will come back and pay for them when you eat them.

thats all for now.

REGARDING EMBARRASSING 'EX-EMPLOYEE'

AUTHOR: astonishedbyyourreply - (United States of America)

You are an EX for a reason.  I am an employee of Office Max in another state.  I am astonished by your rebuttal.  You are an embarrassment to Office Max and have definitely set yourself up for a lawsuit (libel).  I have been with Office Max for many years and have never had an employee, either current or 'EX', say such rude ignorant statements that are an embarrassment to Office Max.  You obviously have some issues in your personal life and are compensating by the words your typed.  You need to get some professional help and I am saying that in a kind manner.  The consumer who originally reported the incident obviously was a good customer who was frustrated to the point of calling corporate.  I am certain they questioned/reprimanded the two employees mentioned and issued an apology to the customer.  I would not be surprised if corporate did not offer the customer occassional 'secret shopper' trips to this store, compensation, and a direct telephone number to an Office Max corporate employee.  I have seen this done many times in situations similar to these.  Our policy does NOT condon employees being rude to customers.  See someone to straighten yourself out before you get yourself into serious trouble with your vile outbursts.

#4 UPDATE EX-employee responds

I know exactly who this is...

AUTHOR: tqueenjanet - (United States of America)

As someone already pointed out, it is amazing that you've continued to come in to this store again and again if they are that rude... In fact, this particular store has some of the friendliest staff of any place I've ever worked or shopped. Because of how very rarely complaints are made, but also the sheer number of times you have placed such ridiculous complaints as this one, it's no difficult feat for me to figure out who you are. It's not like you're gonna Sue me, haha.

The new employee in question is one of the best additions to not only that department, but to the store. Yet you somehow are the only one who doesn't get along with him. The real reason you don't like him is because he stopped you from stealing more paper and by forbidding you from going behind the counter, where customers aren't allowed to go anyways. Yes, they know you're stealing, and, if I had my way, Disney would know about all the copyright images you're copying and selling online.

This store, and in fact this person writing this rebuttal, have put up with you for far too long. You are so often rude, a thief, and you abuse a discount that does not belong to you. And you are going to respond to this with more '' How dare you''s and such. But you aren't going to learn or think that you may need to approach life and people any differently.

I was very tempted to call you out for the b**** you are, but I'm actually going to close this with a plea for you to get some help and learn to be a nicer and a better person. I'm sorry I didn't call you out when I had the chance, but please stop and listen for once...

#5 Consumer Comment

I'm pretty sure this is not the whole story.

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

I suggest that you look in the mirror and think, could my actions or words (either past or present) have caused these individuals to treat me this way?  I ask, how many times can you insult someone and expect them to just lay there and smile?  People who choose to work retail are usually people that are good at and enjoy the day to day dealings with others.  Maybe if you were treated so poorly there was a reason.

I am curious why you continue to frequent this location/company if you are treated poorly?  If I was treated how you claim to be, there are plenty of other retailers that would like my business.  The only way to truely impact them is to stop shopping there.  When you make a complaint like this and then continue to shop at that same store, it makes me believe that maybe you are not welcome at other retail stores because of your attitude and the way that you might treat people in general.  Retail employees are people just like everyone else and should be treated with respect, even if you think they are a lower class and less educated group.

In closing,
If you were treated poorly, it was most likely brought on by some action or rude comment you made towards the associates.  Treat people how you would like to be treated and you will live a happier and more productive life.  If you don't like how you are being treated, maybe you need to ask yourself "why am I being treated like this".  I can assure you that is is not because people are just plain rude, but it is their reaction to your attitude.

THE TRICK HERE IS TO ACTUALLY READ

AUTHOR: Another Angry Customer - (United States of America)

There is a saying that goes something like this - it is better to be thought to be an idiot than to open your mouth and erase all doubt.  - Got it?  Do not comment on my problem with office max when you have no idea what you are talking about and are assuming facts not in evidence - jackass!

What?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

So by your calculations you have gone to them about 1500 times and because of 1 bad employee experience you are just dropping them?  I'd hate to see what you would do if your spouse forgot to pick up a gallon of milk on the way home from work.

If I owned a store, I would want to know how the customers were treated and Office Max will be informed immediately.
- You don't own a store?  Then why in the world are you in OfficeMax 3 times a week for 10 years?  But if you did own a store, wouldn't you want the customer to talk to you before they just blast you on the Internet?   So don't you think you probably should have talked to their upper management first?

What in the world did this guy do?  Did he toss a ream of paper at your face and break your nose, or did he just not use the correct paper for your copy job?

Obviously the odds of the employee and manager being so new that you don't reconginze them is very slim, so with that many visits the manager must have at least recognized you.  So how did he make the situation worse?
