I have sent in approximately a dozen rebate requests to OfficeMax for products I purchased at OfficeMax. I made sure to do everything by the book.

I made sure the dates were all correct, everything that they had asked for was included in the envelope, and brought the envelope with the rebate information in it, to the post office, personally.

What more could I have done to make sure they would accept my rebate, nothing. Now they are denying several of my rebates, (at least one for $50.00), for things that did not happen or things, (now that they have all the evidence), I can no longer prove.

I had made copies of everything that was sent in, however, I sent in one of the rebates just three days after the purchase, 28 days before the cutoff date.

I brought the envelope directly to the post office. Now OfficeMax is trying to tell me that they received it long after the postmark date.

That's just plain B.S. Now that they are sure I can no longer return the product, they can feel safe to deny my rebate. Thanks OfficeMax. I would like everyone to know that the deals that OfficeMax rebate offers are rigged and phony. DO NOT shop at OfficeMax.

You Have Options

AUTHOR: Christopher - (U.S.A.)

If you purchased these items with a credit card you can dispute the purchase with the credit card company.

You can return the items to the store and tell them to have a nice life.

You can go to the store where purchased and ask for a duplicate receipt, especially if purchased with a credit or debit card.

Personally I use Staples. Just purchased a monitor and received the rebate in LESS THAN THREE WEEKS. That's service!

They are counting on people to NOT send in for the rebate

AUTHOR: Kent - (U.S.A.)

In response to Why mail in Rebates.
This is a Marketing strategy, these companies are counting on people not sending in for the rebate, even if only 10% of there customers dont send in for the rebate this amounts to a small fortune the bigger the company the more money they stand to gain. some states have laws to protect consumers against time related deadlines in utah there is no deadlines allowed if you have the recipt thats enough period. check with your local consumer protection agency to find out the laws in your state these companys are counting on you not knowing the law and gambling that you will do nothing about it call there bluff!

I hate rebate offers

AUTHOR: Evan - (U.S.A.)

Unfortunately, I don't have any pearls of wisdom to share. I just want to vent a bit. Why do consumers have to deal with rebates? Why can't the companies that offer them simply make the discount at the point of sale?
