Purchased home in July 2013. September 2013 the furnace failed. Called Old Republic and they sent out a contractor to evaluate unit. My Policy states $1,500.00 coverage for heat and air. The contractor said the installation was not to code and he would not do anything. The furnace has been installed and operating 27 years. Called Old Republic again and they sent out a different contractor. He said Old Republic would only pay $639 dollars to replace the furnace. I woud have to pay $1,500.00 to fix Not Covered Items. When I asked for a breakdown of parts and labor for the $1,500.00, the contractor said he did not split out the costs and left. He called Old Republic and told them he refused to come back to my house. I called Old Republic and they told me they would send me a Cash Out of $639.00. I told them I would not accept this and they needed to get another contractor out to replace my furnace. Old republic found another contractor that drove 85 miles one way to work on my furnace, not replace it. He tried to light the pilot lite and after watching it blowup three times (in my attic) I told him to get out before he burned the house down. The furnace has been red taagged by two different pe9ople, one of them the gas company, for a cracked heat exchanger, so lighting the pilot light might have killed us with Carbon Monoxide. I have contacted Old Republic again and now they are offering $900.00 for me to cash out. I said no and asked for their legal department to contact me. Guess what, no response after five (5) more calls.

I would wonder why THREE different contractors refused to come back to your house to do anything. Were you just that nasty to them because your post sounds incredibly hostile to people who are only doing their job. If the warrenty company has to pay out on your furnace then they pay 1500 to a company that is approved. IF every company that they approved refuses to do work for you then you have to take the LESSER amount as a payout to resolve your issue.
I would suggest that YOUR attitude is the barrier here. If THREE different workmen approved BY the warrenty company refuse to come back and do work, then either YOUR house was so unsafe that they felt at risk even stepping in the door, or YOUR just that nasty of a person and they DO NOT want to even be around you. These are issues YOU have to address. Im not saying that either of these circumstances are true, but as I said one has to wonder WHY 3 different contractors wouldnt come back and deal with either YOU or the furnace.
A warrenty is NOT 100%. If they have offered you a lesser value then they are offering you what they can. Your limit is up to but not to exceed 1500. If THEY do not feel you DESERVE 1500$ then its THEIR money and THEIR determination. They COULD have just blown you off and left you to swing. So maybe you should examine this situation and try and look at the whole thing from a different perspective then yours. You may find that the issue is a minor one and that with a few adjustments you would get your furnace fixed. Because whatever it is your doing now is not getting you the desired results. Something has to change if you want this resolved.
Also for your education, everytime a contractor has to drive out to see you there is roughly a 75$-150$ service call. Each of those calls is taking from your overall 1500$. IF ANY work has been done at all that amount is also applied to YOUR $1500.00. So the more workmen they are sending out the less money YOU have to work with.
