  OPTICS PLANET IS A SPECIALTY RETAILER  SELLING various accessories and equipment for rifles, guns, firearms and crossbows ; from optics to rifles copes to mounts to night vision and everything  in between.

    My concern is that they specifically say they are using SHIPPING services in their Expedited SHIPPING
CLASS and they charge you as though you are using UPS or FEDEX, then you find out they are using  priority mail and charging you 2 times to cost of mail to send packages  to you.

1]   case in point ordered a scope that weighs less then 12 oz boxed  to address in Virginia . they said package would cost 17.00 for expedited shipping.  Package was actually sent  Priority Mail  at a cost of less then 8.00 which included delivery confirmation.  Customer is NOT ADVISED of this change by vendor and VENDOR FULLY CHARGES CUSTOMERS CREDIT CARD BEFORE SHIPPING PACKAGES.

2] case in point  customer orders item to be sent to CANADA  . item weighs less then  9 oz .  Item is  mailed  NOT SHIPPED at a cost of  20.00  plus a additional charge of 20 for  miscellaneous fees. Customer is not advised of the fee charges before shipping only of the  initial SHIPPING fee of 20.00
   
  Customers are getting systematically ripped off by a vendor who does NOT disclose their practices until AFTER  your package is enroute then they tell you they have no way to stop the shipment  once they have  executed what must be an IN HOUSE POLICY  to use mail services for all shipments.

No where on their shipping page on their website is the word 'mail' used.  Optics Planet has 141 complaints with the better business bureau over the past 3 years. Yet the  2011 abcnews story proved you can get a A plus rating from the better business bureau by merely paying theur 425.00 fee yearly and on time.
