Jeffrey Shablin is a con artist and Optimal Sport Heath Clubs operates using unethical business practices.  When I signed up at Optimal in the Curis Center in Philadelphia I paid for my first month and my last month of membership.  After using the gym for 8 months with no issues I had to move and went to cancel my membership, having paid for all months used plus still having the additional final month I paid for when I signed up. I sent a cancellation email and left a notice of cancellation at the club.  I never returned.  A month later I received a bill for another month.  I called and explained that I had cancelled my account.  I was told that I owed dues for a final month.  I explained that I paid for my last month in advance, and had not used the gym since I cancelled my membership due to the fact that I had moved away.  The representative told me that I still owed the final month and that I could not cancel my contract until I paid the owed dues.  I reached out to multiple people at the company who told me the same thing.  A month later I received another bill, this time for 2 Months! I called again and was told that i could not cancel my account until all dues were paid. 

Do not use Optimal Sport Heath Clubs.  They are unethical. Jeff Shablin does not do honest business.  Go to another gym in the city and save yourself the trouble.

Optimal Sport Health Clubs and Jeffrey Shablin have a perfect rating with the Better Business Bureau and The Pa State Attorney Generals office that govern us. Our contracts are clear and approved by the state that protects consumers. All of our contracts clearly state the cancelation policy. Most gyms require 60 days on their cancelation policy. We require 30 days. If a member has paid their last month dues at sign up and cancel on or before that 30 day window they would not incur another charge. If they cancel outside of this window then they may be subject to one additional charge. Nothing is hidden or in any way presented in a manner to deceive members. Our track record speaks for itself. For some reason this appears as a very personal attack. We have perfect ratings. We also always work very closely with members if they do not agree with the billing companies terms. Again please note that our record speaks for itself. 4 gyms, thousands of members, over 7 years and no other complaint of this magnitude. Do the math. There's definetly more to this than what this member claims. I am always willing to correct any wrongs or to make sure our members have a good feeling about us. I welcome this particular member to call me at (((redacted))) and let me know their situation. From what I know of I have never spoken to this person. The ball is in your court as the saying goes!
