Ortho Mattress DON'T WORK HERE SCAM Santa Monica California

Applied for Sales Manager position in West Los Angeles at the beginning of 2015. After submitting my resume a recruiter called approximately 24 hours later to set up a phone interview. The next step was to meet with Regional Manager for my area (probably the one you won't be working at, so don't get excited) Sat through the interview which was interuppted several times. I realized that the job at hand was really for an entry sales associate position.

They lie to you and claim you can make 25-120K. The truth is that no one makes that kind of money there. The most I made was 33k and I was scraping by in life. No negotiation, you are told what the hourly and commission % is upfront no matter how well you do during probationary months. Training classes are held for 2 weeks and generally start on the 1st and 15th. You have to drive to their corporate offices that are not in Los Angeles which is a pain if you don't have a car. 

If HE likes you, YOU WILL PROBABLY BE OFFERED THE JOB RIGHT THEN AND THERE regardless of your sales experience. You can only qualify for a Sales Manager position after hitting sales goals (6 to 12 mo) as a sales associate first. Ortho operates a micro staff therefor you can expect to be overworked with Low pay, extremely long hours, mattress prices are higher than the competition, extremely low customer traffic unless you are stationed at 1 of a very few select stores and know that management does not care about its employees.

I am extremely surprised Ortho has not been taken to court already for multiple labor code violations. I watched the VP of Sales (Danny )  Ortho Mattress in Santa Monica hit on trainees and customers while working with him. He even told me he slept with a customer after selling her a mattress. This is the type of professionalism that you can expect from this employer. Working with Alex and Henry are the best people to learn from if you end up at this place. 

Lots of down time to look for another job! If your are not part of upper management, you are truly expendable. This is what you get when you work at Ortho. I will agree with EVERY negative post on this site and that they are a complete Rip Off. I"d never work for their company again.
