I dined at the Southern Pines, NC Outback one night with my brother and sister. I live in another town but my sister and I were there visiting my brother who lives in Southern Pines. I ordered the Mahi for dinner. A few hours later I began vomiting and did not stop for 5 hours! I had to go to the emergency room where they pumped me full of anti-emetic drugs. I knew the food poisioning came from Outback because we had been traveling all day in the car and I did not eat lunch. The only food I had that day was from Outback. When I informed the manager, Dan Fix, of this problem I was told to file a claim with their insurance company. Well, my claim was denied. There was not enough evidence to warrant food poisioning. Well, I can give them a gallon of puke to prove it was food poisioning! So that dinner ended up costing me about $800. I will NEVER dine at any Outback or other Outback owned restaurant. Spread the word!

"A few hours later I began vomiting"

AUTHOR: Denny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 30, 2005

Those are your words that you wrote.

13 hours ins a "A few hours later"

Food poisoning (vomitting symptoms) will occur a minimum of 16-24 hours after ingestion.

13 hours? That means it was anything YOU ATE prior to Outback.

your claims still do not back up the facts.

Why yes, I CAN read ... can you?

AUTHOR: Peter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 30, 2005

Why yes, I CAN read ... and I read that you started vomiting "a few hours later" after eating at Outback. Can YOU read?

I suggest you get your story straight. It seems like you're making a lot of this up, probably trying to get some quick cash from the insurance company ...

DID THE CULTURES COME BACK POSITIVE FOR SALMONELLA?

AUTHOR: Sherri - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 30, 2005

Not saying that one can't get salmonella poisoning from fish, but usually salmonella poisoning is more often caused by poultry and related-products (including mayonnaise!!). s****.>

Can you not read???

AUTHOR: Alisa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 30, 2005

I did not say I got sick 5 hours after I ate there, I said I vomited for 5 hours. Maybe you should read a little more carefully before you post a comment that makes you look illiterate. If you visit www.cdc.gov you can read the effects of salmonella poisoning. In 12-72 hours a person experiences severe abdominal pain and nausea. It was exactly 13 hours after I ate there that I began vomiting. Outback did cause my food poisoning and therefore they will never get my business again.

Outback did NOT cause your poisoning

AUTHOR: Peter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 29, 2005

Food poisoning does not occur a mere five hours after eating the suspected food, so there is no way that you got sick from food at the Outback. That is why they denied your claim. Whatever you ate during the previous 48 hours is responsible for your vomiting. Doing 5 minutes of internet research would have been able to clear this up for you, without you spending twice that amount of time filing a false report against a good restaurant.
