Palm Harbor Homes Lazy Construction and Lies in Addison, Texas

My family was given the "gold key" to our new home in 2007.  About 3 months after moving in, by accident we found that the roof joists weren't joined together...our home was still in 2 pieces essentially.  Little things like sink gaskets were not installed correctly, so contractors used box cutters to remove excess and insulation wasn't put in around water pipes in the crawl.

Over the years we have tried to contact Palm Harbor with no response.  The most we have gotten is "that manufacturer is out of business" or "that is no longer under warranty."  We were told to keep a list of "need fixed" things and in 6 months and then 1 year Palm Harbor would come and actually fix any issues.  That never happened.  The location we purchased our home is not longer open.

Over  the past 2 years, we have had pipes freeze and burst, furnance go out, all sink faucets leak, my kitchen now has an insurance claim because of the leak that has destroyed my flooring.  All of the cabinets throughout the home have lost doors due to the hardware not being able to hold PRESS BOARD! (We were told we would have hardwood cabinets.)

We aren't too impressed with their mortgage company either.  My husband lost his job 3 years ago which cut our income.  He has since found employment, but is making 1/2 of what he used to make.  Consequently, we are finding it very difficult to make mortgage payments in a timely manner.  We have asked that they revisit our account on several occassions, but we were told because Country Place is private, they don't have to participate in any of the programs available for struggling home owners.

We are sick with the "one thing after another" we find ourselves facing on a regular basis with this home.  I can't believe that there aren't lawsuits against this company for all the lies and falsehoods they "sell" customers.

We cannot in our right mind recommend Palm Harbor to anyone.
