I am extremely angry and feel like I have been ripped off by Paramount Builders. I doubt Paramount will own up to this larceny, but my understanding of what I was going to get for the price I am paying and will pay is not what was done to my house; even after I went to the mat and fought just to get the corner boards wrapped on the front of my house.
I knew before anyone showed up to my house a couple of months ago that I was going to need to get some work done to the wood trim on the house which had started to show a lot of weathering. Your salesman shows up touting the great reputation of
The salesman crunched number after number; convincing me that I probably would not be able to get this work done on my own and how he was doing me a grand favor based on my 20 years of military service. When he left, I had a contract in hand and an understanding that for the price on the contract, all the wood trim on the front of the house would be covered; the front of my house has 5 windows, a garage, porch, etc.
So, the work crew shows up to my house and covers the 5 windows, the soffits, freeze boards, the beam on the porch and the trim behind the gutters. The rest of the porch, the garage door trim, and the corners of the house front were untouched. What a let down, that is all I got for the price!? So, we had another round, I was told
Last week, a few doors down from my house, Paramount Builders stuck a sign in one of my neighbors yards and looks like they completed the entire house; to include the porch. Really?! they told me they don't do porches and they've done someone else's porch. So, now Ive gone through a whole range of feelings, more anger, frustration, and embarrassment (that I would be taken in this manner).
Therefore, I have to let my feelings be known. Paramount Builders has ripped me off; again, during the whole process my military career and service was played hard and played hard to my disadvantage. This was nothing less than a well-played

JUST ANOTHER salemen that did not take the worm

I answered a blind ad on Craigslist for experienced home improvement
sales people. They would only accept phone calls. I called in and was
told to meet at this office
late in the day. The office was closed but I waited until the manager
came. After I asked several questions and the manager's apparent
acceptance of me, I asked to see the contract. He told me to come in
Monday and I would see it and also for some initial training.
Once
at the meeting, I learned from 4 others new recruits, I was the only
actual person with home improvement sales experience in regards to their
products. The manager made a comment about what was required of us
later that morning and that we would receive the contracts later on
Friday. In other words, I was to drive and attend their meetings at my expense
for 5 days, memorize their sales scripts fast under pressure and do
product presentations by their standards and then at their convenience I
would see my commission contract.
I left at the first lunch break. This is a 1099 Independent sales contractor position and not an employee I was told.
They need to look under the IRS
guidelines as to behavior control in what is a sales contractor and an
employee. I was also told I had to call in for a TO at each appointment
if I made no sale and the leads belonged to them.
I wonder if SS8 questionnaire forms were sent to the IRS
for determination status what would be the outcome. He also told me I
had to attend a weekly sales meeting at a different location at my time
and expense. Under law this is an employee status and not an independent
contractor, as well their contract he said was exclusive with non
compete clauses and I was not allowed to see beforehand.
Behavior
control means just that, you can't make contractors attend meetings,
call in for sales aid before you leave a home or discipline them if
their sales falter for example. If they want employees, then do the
legal thing and pay expenses, supply vehicles, hourly wages and
commissions, tax deductions, SSI, benefits, unemployment and the rest.
It's all about their profits...
I rather check them at the court-house and see the bbb is own by the company

That I stated they have 9 complaints. If 9 complaint in 3 years is high in your opinion, then maybe you are just one of those people that can't be made happy no matter what. Have you made 9 mistakes in the past year? I'm sure you won't own up to that either. The BBB gives them a rating A+......need I say more? You're starting to sound like an employee for a competing company.

Consumer Beware of doing business with Paramount Builders

Paramount does not have 9 BBB complaints in their 20 year history. If you read the BBB complaint history, you will see they have 9 complaints in the past 36 months which is all the BBB will post.
9 BBB complaints in the past 36 months is abnormally high and a good warning sign to consumers. Most reputable business' will have less than 3 complaints in the most recent 36 month period.
Also the 9 BBB complaints listed are for the specific area listed. If you check out this company in another BBB area such as Hampton Roads, you will find additional BBB complaints.
All in all, the abnormally high number of BBB complaints and rip-off report comments on Paramount Builders is a true reflection of this company. I've had these scumbags in my house before and they are nothing more than high pressure sales predators trying to scam consumers out of every dollar they can.

It looks like you, as the consumer, are quick to point the finger of blame and slow to look inward. Maybe since this was YOUR house you should have asked MORE questions. How is it that a company like Paramount Builders has such an impeccable record of service spanning almost 20 years and yet only 9 complaints with the BBB?? Also, how is it that your neighbor got their "porch done" and you didn't? On that note, do you have any idea how many areas there are on a "porch?" Your story comes FAR from adding up.
