I contacted Patroit via there web site. I was contacted by "Stuart" and after a lengthly conversation with him I told him that I wanted to think about it, and he advised me that the rate would be changing and if I wanted to lock in I had to make a decision by the end of the day. Having never moved before I went along with his "professionals" opion.

My main concern, I told him was my antique dinning room set. Stuart advised me that "their" movers were professionals and they would take very special care of it. He also told me insurance was included in the shipping price up to $15,000. He never offered me additional coverage.

My next contact was the delivery person telling me to have a postal mo for an addional $4,800.(not the $1,000 quoted) Opening the truck I discovered my dining room set was completely destroyed. Glass broken, shelves smashed and the leg of the table snapped off.

I was told by a very rude person at Patriot to go back to the shipper. They could not help me.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.. I have contacted a lawyer to settle this for me.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

To find the insurance info for Cross Country...

AUTHOR: Sharon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 12, 2005

The "insurance" included in the price is not insurance, it's called "valuation". This assigns a replacement cost for an item, set at 60 cents per pound of weight of the item, nomatter how much it is actually worth. If you wanted real insurance, you would have had to purchase it through an outside comapny. So what Stuart told you was a complete lie, and should be stressed to the DOT and the FL Attorney General.

If you do want to make a claim for your furniture, I can tell you how to look up the insurance company for your movers. I'd tell you myself, but there are a lot of movers with "Cross Country" in the title. You can search them out yourself and contact the insurance dirctly to file a claim. The subcontracted drivers are operating under CC's license and insurance.

Go to safersys.org (this is the DOT's website) and click on "Company Snapshot" in the middle column. Type in the mover's name, and select it from the list of names and places of business. This is their basic information. At the top right of this page is a blue box with License & Insurance as a link, clikc it. Select HTML, and you are seeing their FMCSA report. You can click on Active/Pending insurance, and find their Cargo insurance listed. Note their Policy number, then click on the insurer's name and get their contact info.

Good luck!

and the nightmare continues

AUTHOR: Christine - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 12, 2005

My pickup was April 25 and delivery on May 4, 2005. When I contacted Patriot Movers on May 5, 2005 they told me that they were "BROKERS" and they hire "MOVERS". And that's where it ends with them. My mover was Cross Country. When I called Cross Country yesterday to follow up on my claim they told me that they sub it out to free lance drivers. I remember the driver telling me that he was from New York and he had hired two day labors to help him out.

After getting the run around yesterday I have filed a complaint with the Department of Transportation and the FBI.
I will contact the Attorney Generals office on Monday.

Any additional information would be a great help.

Who was the mover? Patriot Moving, also known as National Moving Network

AUTHOR: Sharon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 11, 2005

Christine, who was the actual mover, and when did this take place?

Patriot Moving, also known as National Moving Network, is currently under investigation by the FBI and DOT for its involvement with certain companies. The FL Attorney General's Economic Crimes Division of Ft. Lauderdale is running its own investigation just into NMN/Patriot. You can contact them about your situation at the following link:

http://myfloridalegal.com/lit_ec.nsf/investigations/601962A26847383885256FAC00689388

"Stuart" is really the owner, Randy Goldberg.

NMN/Patriot is now doing business as Premium Relocation of Las Vegas.
