We recently moved to West Pasco County, FL and were horrified at the filthy shops Paw Wash Plus own. Where is the County Health Department or other State or County Regulator? We inquired on Pet Sitting Services and their large Mobile Van for grooming. We asked if they were Licensed? Answer was NO. We asked if they were Bonded to enter into our home. Answer was NO. We asked if their Groomers were trained and Certified. Answer was NO. Seems like anyone in Pasco County, FL (and any other part of FL) can hang out a shingle, rent a space, and call themselves Animal Groomers. What we witnessed on our visits to the two Paw Wash Plus locations was disgusting. One groomer was yelling at a og to "shut up"...loud voive and it carried on with us standing at the front door. She just did not seem to care. Another dog was shaking on the table, and the groomer was grabbing at her paw to clip her nails. Another was doing an anal gland "internally"...a prodcedure only a trained Vet Tech or Vet should do. Groomers should express externally on dogs.

It was shocking to us to see and feel the chaos in Paw Wash Plus. The Owner looked angry, uptight, and seemed to want to pack in the appointments, with no regard to the pets that families drop off and believe they will be safe.

It is also shocking to learn the State of Florida and the Counties do not enforce health codes for Groomers and their shops. They make Vet Tech's train, hair stylist train, why not teach Groomers how to train and sterilize their work stations. Staff on dogs seem to be a big problem in FL...wonder if groom shops are adding to the problems with unsanitary conditions?

I wanted to write this to warn others that what happens "inside" a shop is very different from dropping your dog off for a groom. Please call or write your State Representative and ask them to write into Legislation to enforce Animal Groomers in the State of FL to be Regulated. They must be trained, held to the highest standard, Permitted properly, and part of the Professional and Busiess Regulation.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

False complaint from 4/15/14

AUTHOR: Paw Wash Plus - ()

Every complaint filed on 4/15/14 by this customer is completely false, unfortunatly it was filed by a customer who was asked to not to return to our salons because of the way she treats our staff and groomers. This request was made by the owner as of result of her verbal abuse, insults and mistreatment of the staff and owner, it had nothing to even do with her animals.

Just to clarify a few things, this person has been a customer since 2010 so obviously "she" did not just "move to this area" (lie #1). Secondly, our groomers are trained as we do not hire any groomers that do not have at least 3 years experience and all of who have each gone through a grooming school program (lie #2). Third, we are licensed and insured to provide grooming and pet sitting services as indicated by the Pasco County licenses that are hanging on our wall. (lie #3), Fourth, our groomers only perform "external" anal gland expression and WILL NOT perform "internal" gland expression even if asked to do so, we will explain to our customers that this can only be done at a vet's office (lie#4). The interesting part of this story is that this customer who filed the complaint has come to the shop at least 6 times since 2010, if this complaint was true why would she keep coming back? The last visit that she was actually IN the shop, the owner was not even present so how could she look "angry and uptight" (lie #5). She terrorized the staff so badly on this day that the staff requested that when this customer come in again that the owner be present. This very last time the customer VOLUNTARILY MADE an appointment to come into the shop (again, why would she come back if it were so unacceptable and filthy?) she never even made it inside so she would then be unaware of what was taking place inside on this day. This report is simply a case of someone believing they can treat people in the service industry any way they like and obviously was unhappy that someone took a stand and would not allow it any longer. If you were wondering how we can be certain that this is a particular client? It would be the one that "screamed" at the owner that she was a lawyer and would be all over social media about this, stating "you don't know who I am". Bascially, someone who is used to getting their way and when they don't, resort to bullying. It's unfortunate that people can use the internet and social media to manipulate and misguide consumers in such a way that they should be ashamed to be called professionals.
