Overall, the salesman's recommended solution looks terrible. There is a mini gutter at the base of two of the walls in the basement, and one wall has a piece of white plastic glued to it that wasn't even trimmed to look a little neater. Outside of the sliding door, there is a concrete structure with a roof and a door to the outside opposite the sliding door into the basement. This area allows water to come in when it rains, and the water eventually runs under the sliding door. There was a drain installed in this area and also drain tiles. This would have been acceptable if it solved our water problems.

The next night, after installation, we had a rain storm. In addition to the usual water coming in under the sliding door, there was also a large puddle in an area that we had never had water before. In area outside of the sliding door, it looked like the water sprayed up from the drain tile into a fan-shaped water spray on one wall. The next day, I called Perma-Seal to complain that we had more water than ever after they "fixed' the problem. A couple of days later, one of the workers came out to check the problem, and told us that the cause and source of the water had not been addressed by the work done. So the actual cause of the water in our basement had not been corrected or addressed, and we now have water in a different area that never had water until after the work was done by Perma-Seal. I immediately stopped payment on the check for the balance of $2770.

In my opinion, when a so-called professional is called to analyze a problem and propose a solution, they should do just that. Perma-Seal sales people push expensive, ugly drain tiles whether they will resolve the problem or not. When they don't work, they tell you that you have another problem, and you have to “prove” their system didn’t help anything or wasn’t needed. Their warranty means nothing. At this point, they are threatening to turn the outstanding $2770 over for collection. If I pay them, it will have cost us over $3400 for something that was not only not needed, but made the problem worse. I sincerly believe that the work done by Perma-Seal was not only not necessary, but it did not contribute to solving our water problem, and, in fact, has increased the severity of our water problems.
