I thought I was lucking out by finding an affordable place to stay in West Palm Beach. I booked the hotel for a full month and was assigned to a room. My room, when I got there, was a literal hole in the wall. It was like a hallway with a small space large enough for a double bed and a night stand and not much else. Amenities, if you can even call it that, included a hot plate stove top, a small sink, mini fridge, microwave and a two stool bar table for dining. The bathroom was very small as well. The shower was large enough for you to stand in, but there was no room to move around at all, every inch of it was sprayed with the shower head when it was on. Even the floor tiles were cracking and the grout was falling apart, but the management will boast that they recently took over and completely renovated the place over 6 months ago.

They offer Internet service through some company called Meraki but it will not connect. I wasted $35.00 to have it rarely ever connect to the Internet: complete waste of money. So that's the "grand" experience of staying at Pershing Suites. My worst issue came in leaving the place. I confirmed my move out date and that I would be getting my deposit upon departure, which is also stated in the agreement I signed when I first moved into the place.

The property manager, Cynthia (Cindy) was in office all day and informed me that we had to check out by 5:00pm. At 3:00 on my move out date, I was loading my car, and saw that she was there in the office. But when I had gotten everything loaded into my car and went upstairs to make it was clean and back in original condition, she was gone out of the office, Her husband, also the "maintenance" guy, was in the lobby painting and said she had left for the day (not even 5 minutes after I had gone upstairs) and that their policy was to send deposits to a forwarding address within two weeks of check out.

My mistake in all of this was not having my contract handy upon check out, and being too trusting. HOWEVER, it's not excuse for what happened next. I did write my address down along with my boyfriends, who stayed there with me as well, with both our cell phone numbers. I was in a hurry to get to my next destination in a new town, as check in was only 3 hours away and already I was running late. So, not the waiting for my deposit began.

Week 1: I called to confirm when to expect the deposits, when the property manager, rudely rushed me off the phone with a, "oh, hi, the checks were all sent out yesterday. Mm-hmm. Yea, bye." (Strike 1)

Week 2: I called again, since it in no way should take a week for a check to reach you within the same state.nfirst, I called 3 times that day, to only have it go to voicemail, which I left. I also sent an email to have someone confirm my address with no reply of course, so when I got home, I called the office agin, with no answer and the. I had my boyfriend call their office from his phone, and what do you know, the manager answered her phone. (Obviously someone was avoiding me- Strike 2)

Of course, i was yet again told a check were sent out "yesterday" so I asked for her to confirm what addressed just to make sure I won't bring lied to. She replied, I dunno, some address in Miami, I'm not sure. Oaky. I wine ton to apex plain my concern, to which she cut me off to say, I wasn't the one who went out the check, I thought it was sent out to. She then instructed me to call another rude man at her management office, Patrick. I called Patrick and he gave me the same info as she did. He did confirm my address (how nice) however he told me they did not include my apartment number. So I called the next day, of them to tell me the check was returned to their office (when I called them at about 10:30am) who gets mail that early? Any who, I verified my full address and was assured (yet again) that this deposit check would be sent out that day, and that if I do not receive it by the next Wednesday, to call back.

Week 3: of course said deposit has yet to be received, so I felt the need to call someone else. I call the corporate office and jotted down extensions for other people who work there. I got extensions for ajar, Patrick, Neil and someone else I cannot remember. as I made my way down the list, no one answered their phones at 3:30pm- odd for a company closing at 5:00pm. BUT I did get in contact with Neil, who turned out to be Neil Kozokoff, the owner of Parkland Companies/ Parkland Properties. Neil was Not rude, or rushing, he seemed a bit baffled that I advised him his property manager, referred me to Patrick to get my deposit sent to me as she is supposed to handle this particular issue. Neil took my name and number down and said he'd have Cindy call me back.

I called her the next day and she said she was sitting in front of Patrick and Neil and that check was being sent out that day. At this point, I was absolutely tired of hearing the same thing week after week. But, we'll see. I am expecting this check in the mail tomorrow and if I don't receive it, at this point, I have no other choice but taking legal action.

My recommendation is to not even try staying at this place. You're better off staying at a chain, like intros suites, or studio 6. One day, one week, or even a month: no time spent at this place is worth your money or the headache that comes after.
