I had a 20 year fixed mortgage that began in 1995. It was sold by CUNA Mortgage to PHH mortgage. That is when the trouble and harrassment and weird book keeping and additional charges began.
I was also divorced in 2001 and received a quit claim deed. I mailed copies of the divorce decree and quit claim deed to PHH repeatedly at their request. They "never received it" just like they say about checks mailed or that sit on someones desk forever or are returned. To this day...13 years later, my ex is still listed primarily on the mortgage.
I was injured in 09/2009 and had to go on disability. I, thankfully, had long term disability. In December 2010, my long term disability payment was rec'd on 12/20/2010 and was only $62 and change. With no notification, it had been cut because in March of that year I had finally rec'd monies from Allstate to pay Vendors after I was T=boned in a car wreck and they (Aetna long term disability) applied that money and reduced my payment with no notice.
I had already bought Christmas and was gpoing to make my mortgage payment. I couldn't. I called PHH. They offered to split the payment over the next 3 months. In January of 2011, they mailed my mortgage payment check back to me. They said it was late and that THEY WERE FORECLOSING. THEY ALSO ATTACHED $9,000 IN ATTORNEYS FEES FOR DOING SO. HOW COULD i CLIMB OUT OF THAT HOLE ON A FIXED INCOME??????
I had to file bankruptcy. In 2 years of bankruptcy I have paid over $30,000. It is very hard. PHH mortgage has been suing me again since last June 2013 for paying my taxes and insurance out of my mortgage payment. That is how the mortgage was set up and they made no objection when I filed bankruptcy. Now they want $32,697 which is more than I owe on my mortgage! These people that own this mortgage company are the scum of scum! I had $804.99 in escrow when the bankrupcy started. Guess they just kept that! Court Tues 01/07/14!
Do not deal with this company if you want to keep your home and you sanity and money. Words to the wise.
