I called Phil’s Plumbing Service (which has been our DTE Service Plan representative for several years) on the 27th of June due to a chronic plugged drain problem in the kitchen. Jeff from Phil’s Plumbing responded and diagnosed the problem. We were quoted a total of $3,500 for this work in its entirety, paid in two installments of $1,750 each on our Visa card. I will absolutely be calling DTE to complain about them being a "perferred" vendor for their service plan.
However, as the plumber went further into the drain pipe under the floor he believed the problem was bigger than originally thought. In his opinion, he would need to break up more of the concrete floor in the kitchen along with the wood laminate flooring in order to replace more of the same drain pipe. The added length was approx. 10’ to 12’ into the kitchen. I requested, but was not given a breakdown of the costs and felt they were too far now not to tell him to continue.
As the plumber worked on the floor and the drain he found he was required to go all the way into the utility room. This added another 10’ to 12 feet onto the trench we now had in our kitchen. Jeff was told by his office, to pass on to my wife, that besides the second charge of $3,500 an additional $4,400 was required to finish and close up the floor. That amount was paid in a single installment on our credit card. Again, I requested but was not given a breakdown of the costs. This became a daily game of cat & mouse with me calling the office only to be told any number of excuses why I was not able to get this information but would be contacted later that day, the next day, NEVER!
By this time, we asked him to complete the work in the kitchen and hook our kitchen sink back up so we could resume a somewhat normal life without a kitchen floor. During the process of the breaking up of the floor they did not protect the house from dust and debris per Phil’s direction as Jeff asked to tent the area and Phil declined to allow it. This resulted in requiring professional help through our one story home to clean inside and out of all cupboards, etc. The floor was unprofessionally re-poured leaving a high surface that will need to be remedied before the floor can be replaced.
After numerous requests to get an itemized accounting of these collective cost we have, to date never received this breakdown. We called our credit card company to dispute the charges until we could get a breakdown on the labor & materials cost.
Our plumber Jeff was outstanding, only exception was he did not tell me the management declined his request to "tent" the area and save every surface of my house with a layer of sand and concrete dust. EVERY SURFACE had to be cleaned.
Mike, the electrician Jeff brought with him to deal with installing a garbarge disposal. He was fantastic as well.
Bob is the amazing appliance repair guy. He is an amazingly talented man and will educate you on your appliances as he expertly repairs it as well as tell you a PG joke of the day as he leaves, always asking you first if you want to hear it. DO NOT let them send anyone else!
Michelle - Office Manager, I feel bad for her as she has to shovel the crapload of lies, excuses to me every call. Forgetting what she last told me and me quoting her on the excuse, date & time of my last call.
The owners should have calle us but didn't. Still, to this moment haven't
