Vendor advertises camera product (in this case Nikon D80 body) at very attractive price, takes the customer's identification and credit card information, but fails to ship, claiming the product is on back order. As it happens, my wife first called the vendor and was assured the product was in stock and would be shipped within 7 business days.

When one month passed, but the merchandise was not received, my wife was told the item was on backorder. After listening to a number of excuses, none of which addressed the facts as had been presented at the time the order was placed, my wife asked how many Nikon D80 bodies had been shipped by Photo Dynasty since her order was placed. He could not or would not provide this information, but he did state the item had been on back order since May.

Having been told on June 18 that the product was in stock and being shipped, the revelation that no product had been shipped since May, my wife opined that perhaps Photo Dynasty's practices should become the subject of an inquiry by a State's Attorney General. The "gentleman" on the phone proceeded to become abusive telling my wife that he was canceling our order. He was told that we did not wish to cancel the order.

Within a few minutes we received an email advising that our order had been canceled.

At the very least, I am uncomfortable with a company that engages in business practices such as those described above having in its possession my family's identification and credit card information.

I intend to pass this information along to FTC in the form of a consumer complaint.
