pickwick exxon mike mcclain held my last two exxon payroll checks because he said i owed him money and said that he would just keep them for his payment counce, Tennessee

I was renting a house from the pickwick exxon owner and as a full time employee at his convience store. He put propane in our cyclinder and we gave him a two week notice with no kind of lease aggrement and moved out. I was expecting a 40 hour and a 20 hour week check from the convience store. When i called to make arrangements to pick up my check he said i owe him money and he said that i dont have a check there. It really put me and my family in a terrable bind. i dont believe that it is legal for him to take my payroll check like that.

This person cannot hold your check or make any unauthorised deductions. Call the laborboard on this owner . They will handle this the owner . They will tell the owner to either pay you or get fined. I understand the fine is not cheap.

UNAUTHORIZED DEDUCTIONS FROM PAYCHECK

Under Tennessee law, deductions can only be taken out of pay if the employee has authorized it by a written statement.
