I keep getting letters regarding 2 accounts they purchased from Arrow Financial Services another collection agency. These accounts I believe are over 11 years old and have never been paid on and were written off by Kay Jewelers and First Premier Bank. They were removed from my credit reports and now back on thanks to Portfolio. I asked them to stop and to remove them and they refused.

You should pull all your credit reports for the 3 major credit bureau (Experian, Equifax and Transunion) - this can be done online. Draft three seperate letters to these credit bureaus. Explain to them that you are requesting their assistance in correcting, verifying and removing a error in your credit report. List the account and why it is an error (in your case the account is older than 7 years). Thank them for their assistance in correcting this error and ask them to respond in 45 days with the results. Send these letters certified and keep the receipts to the following address

You will receive a response for the credit bureau more than likely it will state that they have verified the information and it is accurate or that you might want to address this with Portfolio Recovery. You then send a second letter this time it will read: this is my second attempt to resolve the errors that are contain on my credit report. The continuous use of this inaccurate information is unacceptable. Once again I'm requesting that you verify and remove the account below from my credit report. If I don't receive a response in 30 days I will be sending a letter to the  FTC. If the response (from the Credit Agency) included a statement requesting that you address this issue to Portfolio include the following sentence: In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act of 1970 and The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act of 1978 I request that {insert whichever credit agency} verify this information. Send this letter certified and keep the receipt. If all this fall you should then draft a letter to the FTC (who is not the enemy so keep the letter "nice") send the letter certified alone with all documents related to the account if you have any, copies of all letter sent to the Credit Agency, copies of all the credit agency responses and most important a copy of the receipt that you sent the letters to the credit bureaus. As a last ditch effort to solve this you should send a copy of you packet for the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) to each credit agency but you don't have to. The address for the FTC can found at www.ftc.gov. If this you do this quickly you can secure your rights to sue the credit agency (each) for a min. 100$ to a max. 1000$ and punitive damages including lawyer fees.

Side note you can all send a letter to Portfolio Recovery just follow the same guidelines This will also help to secure right to sue Portfolio also.
