Postcard mania is charging you for things you do not need. They also neglect to tell you your price does not include postage, they then send you a form you are supposed to sign for approval to charge your card. Well they charged my card for $4500 without authoriaztion.
I sent them a predesigned postcard proof but they charged me $50 for design work. They charged me 11.5 cents for a postcard you can get from any other printing company for 4 to 6 cents a piece, I found it for 4 cents, they tell you in order to get "the bulk discount" that you need to order 24,000 and only mail 12,000. So 12,000 are sitting on a shelf somewhere and there is no discount!! They charge you for a mailing list that you don't even need to the tune of $1200! You can go to USPS website and use their EDDM tool which allows you to target any demographic you wish---FOR FREE. Mailing lists are a thing of the past. Then they charge youu don't need addresses another $960 to "address" the postcards. Again that is part of the printing process but with EDDM you don't need adresses anymore. EDDM= EVERY DOOR DIRECT MAIL. So tell me why they charge your card so fast? and they did it without authorization? I was told " Oh don't worry if you can't fax it we don't really need that". So they charge your card $4500 before you even get a chance to see a pricing breakdown and the fact they are ripping you off. I was able to do 20,000 Direct Mail postcards 11" x 6" gloss color two sides and mailed to my targeted demographic for $4200.
They were charging me for 12,000 mailed with 12,000 in a box not mailed for $4,505 oh and they gave me a $460 disocunt on top of that so it owuld have been just shy of $5000. There is a reason they grab your money right away. They also said it would take almost three weeks!!! My postcards are going out 4 days from today. THere size was also 6"x8". What do you eant to bet they are using EDDM anyway and keeping all of that money. How would you ever know?

Hi Kevin,
I believe this is Kevin? No name, business name or contact information was provided with this complaint, but we recently refunded someone named Kevin (who’s business name and number I will withhold) for an order almost identical to the one you describe above.
PostcardMania has been in business for 15 years, helping more than 61,654 businesses in that time. We do our best to make sure every order is communicated over the phone, and then we follow up on that communication with a detailed quote that shows all costs involved in the order. Postage costs are always included in the quote as well as the confirmation e-mail you receive once an order is placed.
I see that you sent us in a predesigned postcard. The United States Postal Service (USPS) requires that all pieces mailed through them adhere to their regulations for size as well as mailing area. If the artwork our clients provide doesn’t meet these requirements, we can assist by changing the design to suit USPS requirements. And while there is a fee for that work to be done, the client (formally you) is always welcome to revise the piece themselves so that no cost is incurred. Agreement is always made with the client before any charges are done.
Also, it is very true that we are not the cheapest company out there. We are not just a local printer who provides a commodity (printed materials) — we help small business owners nationwide with marketing so that the response is the best it can be.
Ordering 24,000 postcards does save you money. As is the case with most things, the more you buy, the less you pay per product. You certainly do not have to buy 24,000 postcards to receive a bulk rate discount from the USPS. Bulk rate prices are dictated by the USPS based on the type of list that is ordered and how the postcards are mailed.
You can certainly do the mailing yourself, but the USPS requires you to have the EDDM mailing done in a specific way. And of course, if we are doing the work for you to ensure that these standards are met, there are costs for this service.
According to our business model, money for production is paid up front and postage is collected at the time of mailing, since postage is dictated by the USPS and we do not have a backend collection department. This allows us to continue helping our tens of thousands of customers as a thriving business, as we’ve found that many business that do the work first and then try to collect the money afterwards are not always paid. As a result, these businesses then have to hike up their prices to recover these losses or even go out of business, leaving their other clients high and dry. This business practice has keep us solvent for 15 years.
We certainly are not out to rip anyone off or deceive clients. In fact, after you asked for a refund, we provided one in full within the next business day. If you have any further questions, you can contact our VP of Quality Control anytime at 800-628-1804 x 302. His intention is to assist any customer with any issue they have and he can certainly help you.
Best,
Jessica Lalau
