Precision Overhead Garage Door Service Intentionally misrepresented work that was needed and charged almost twice the normal rate because they knew it was a distress situation Irvine, California

Precision was called out to my 86 year old fathers home to adjust the sensors, the door worked fine except the sensors would not allow it to close all the way indicating something was in the way.  The door had been disabled so it could close all the way, and only be used manually, the technician knew my father could not use the door this way because of his age and condition.  The Technician proceeded to tell him he needed an all new garage door opener etc, and insisted the old would not work (only 10 years old and in perfect working order before the technician came) and told him he would give him a deal, $600.00, and because he was elderly would give him a $90 discount. My father believeing that people are honest and him needing access to his garage agreed.  The opener was installed and the existing key entry was disabled.  My father was told that it was obsolite and a new key pad would need to be installed if he wanted this type of access, he declined this.  So rather than adjust the sensors, he ended up with a $519 repair that was not needed and a key that was no longer useful.  When I called several other garage door companies I found that the normal and customary price for the same equipment installed at my fathers home was between $320 and $370 with the same lifetime warranty and that the key entry system is not obsolite, it only needed a simple wire attached to the trolly, Precision sent out the same Technitian and had someone "walk him thru it" and he attached the wire in less than 10 minutes.  I called Precision and asked for a quote not saying who I was and they quoted me $369.00 for the exact thing that was installed at my fathers home.   When I spoke with Paul the person they put in charge of the situation, he said "too bad, he agreed to it.  If they would have charged $5000 and he agreed, he would have owed that."  PRECISION IS A PREDITORY COMPANY!
