I currently have a personal lines license and need to upgrade to a property & casualty license (P&C). I need to take the commercial health and disability test and take 20 hours of continuing education for this test.

I came across prelicensetraining.com and thought I'd give them a call to see if they offered this specific class. The person I spoke with said they did and that I should enroll in their California Limited Lines Automobile course. After completing some hours of the course, I sensed the material was not applicable with my test so I called them and they told me I should have been taking the California Accident and Health course, so they reset my class.  5 hours lost but not a big deal.

I completed the 20 hours Accident and Health course, study the material for a couple of weeks and go take the test. Well guess what, the California dept of insurance said I took the wrong course and I wasn't able to take the test!

I called prelicensetraining.com requesting a credit and they immediately tried to say no one ever told me what courses to take and that my conversations were logged in their system. No accountability on their end whatsoever. Their supervisors don't callback and instead send out a generic e-mail. They can't admit that not one by TWO of their employees misinformed me.

So here I am---$300.00 down the drain and 25 hours of a course I should have never taken. I started taking the CORRECT class through AD Banker and their staff knows what they're talking about.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PRELICENSETRAINING.COM. Go with AD Banker or Mike Russ instead. prelicensetraining.com is a sham!

My Experience

AUTHOR: D8Nick - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, June 18, 2012

I have recently used this company from my life agent license and found the system to work very well. I am sorry you experienced bad customer service a few years ago, I contacted them with a few test question explanations and found them to be very helpful. I have a few friends that took their course a couple years ago and passed without problem and they told me the current system is much better then it was back then when they took it too after seeing me logged in. It looks like the courses you described only cost $39.99 as of mid-2012 so I don't know how you came up with $300. I decided to ask other agents I know where they took their license training and about half of them said prelicensetraining.com and none of them had any issues using that site so it is unfortunate you had a bad experience back in 2010. I am not sure if they had this back then but the website has a guarantee to pass too which they say they will reemburse a DOI retesting fee the first time if you fail the test, it has more specific details on how that works on the website I just thought it was a really cool feature although everyone I know passed the first time so it was not needed but isn't that the point.
