The Crank-a-Watt was $450 wasted and a product not delivered and unable to recover our money. Failure to respond to e mail or phone calls. You have been warned about this company and individual. He seems great at accepting money, pleasant to speak to and poor at delivering products.  I would strongly suggest you return our money before further action is taken.

Snake oil

AUTHOR: prepper MD - ()

This guy has people advertise that he has invented the worlds first self contained power system.......really? It is that great of a concept and it was placed in a plastic toolbox? Tim Moeller should be strung up for praying on the scared prepper community and selling them products that have no chance of delivering the self inflated lies he advertises. This is shameful and it should be stopped before he ruins the reputations of real businesses who believe his lies. I am baffled when I see an advertisment of a guy whom purports to be an engineer showing the people his "device" running a mixer from a lawn battery that is charged before the POS crank a watt is ever used. This guy does not know he should use a deep cycle battery but is an inventor? and  engineer?  Is he advertsiing the crank a watt or the what appears to be cheap harbor freight inverter with a lawn mower battery.....WTF

I have a friend who owns this product and it is useful as a boat anchor...save your money and buy a solar panel

Bad experience with Presto Wind

AUTHOR: snailfail - ()

Tim Moeller refused to do anything about defective generators he sold me. They were returned withing the first week we got them however since he didn't even deliver until after his 90 day warranty period he refused to do anything. He essentially blames us for his piece of shit product. He kept our money and did not return the product. Does not answer his phone or return e mail. The generators do not perform as advertised with regard to rpm or output and I think this is pretty well known No BBB listing to be seen and I do not think this is even a real company. I would seriously question this guys tax status as all businesses should have a BBB listing if they have a license. We are having to file with the attorney general to get resolution of any sort.

Crank a watt poor construction

AUTHOR: gohuskers - ()

We were looking at these units and the guy has taken toolboxes and such and stuffed in a delco alternator and a crank and thinks he is a genius. As the guys have pointed out on here I am baffled at the advertised 400 to 1600 watt human powered devices. This is crap in a plastic box pure and simple and if the preppers out there have their survival hopes pinned on this piece of junk you might as well not even prep. There are products out there that at least advertise the real possible output such as the Brookstone for 299.99 30-50 watts guys..that all you can crank out.

http://www.brookstone.com/Portable-Power-Supply_10589697_2

Why anyone would want to buy a piece of garbage in a PLASTIC TOOLBOX IS BEYOND ME. Any serious use and this thing is going to fail not to mention the ability of human power is not 1600 watts...I sincedrly hope noone has paid $2000 for this thing. Preppers do not like to see people in out communities being preyed upon by vultures like this. I have spoke with the guy personally and when you question his advertising he has no answers and is rude and defensive....My 16 year old son would have more sense than to bold a car alternator to a plastic toolbox and expect it to support mechanical input from a hand crank much less a bicycle...

Truse me people you can build this yourself with a trip to harbor freight a PM alternator and some duct tape. Again I only repond here after seeing this and reflct on the rude arrogant attitude of the "inventor"  if you can call him that.

Yes the crank a watt is BS

AUTHOR: kansasprepper - ()

Absolutely 100% correct. Using pedal power, it is well documented that a strong, healthy human being pedaling vigorously can put out about 100 watts. Do that for one hour (Whew! I couldn't) and you have 100 watt-hours. (1/10th of a kwh) Arms have far less strength than legs, which means he probably makes more like 25 watts (I am being very generous, since you can only use one arm and not both at the same time with this). If he COULD do it for an hour, that would be 1/40th of a kwh, but I'll bet that guy can't crank that wheel for more than 15 minutes, that's only 1/160th of a kwh. That's not a lot of power. He would be MUCH better off making a bicycle style alternator instead - - but even a pedaling-style alternator just does not make a lot of electricity!!!!

Crank a BS

AUTHOR: bigpreps - ()

I am certain everyone is happy  recieving  a 400 watt rated Crank a watt that will not crank the rated power...Why don't you do some researchand see what the human body is  capable of "cranking" out before you post false misleading ads. We are sure you are about ethically sound as the  jerk selling this product.  Also it is convienient thatit isnot availablefor  3 weeks after the buyer pays. This is complete garbage and you are reporting what the customer was able to do  with the charged battery. Consumers stay away from these people!!!

Crank a watt rip off

AUTHOR: percyg - ()

Maybe you should take this crank a watt product made with by the high moral Presto Meister and put a watt meter on it. I dare you to and you will see the truth. Dear sir people with integrity do not advertise power ratings such as are placed on this unit knowing as an "engineer" if they are as they claim the human body can only crank out about 30 watts.....Now we are glad you have had such a heartwarming experience as his dealer. To the averge guy this man is a snake oil salesman at best and a thief at worst. you are lucky if you even see the product delivered. Good luck with this guy and you have been warned. You are selling products rated above their possible output and are by accessory a fraud. You are a disgrace to the prepper community for not taking the time to even test the claims made before you advertise them. It is a what did you know and when did you know in anaylisis now.

If you can post a video using a watt meter with even a bicyle shoing this unit outputting the advertised power I will apologize on this forum. I think I am safe. Consider it a challenege!

Great Experience with Crank A Watt

AUTHOR: Into The Wilderness - (United States of America)

As the President of Into the Wilderness, I have been dealing directly with PrestoWind since 2011 and have had nothing but positive experiences with both the product and the company. Tim Moeller has a high level of business integrity, and his product is the best quality you can find out there in the hand crank generator market. I don't know the details of this person's experience, but am fairly certain that this particular customer falls in the category of "you can't please all of the people all of the time". 100% of the orders we have placed with them (and we have had dozens) have resulted in happy customers!
