#1 Consumer Suggestion

Comments about mentally ill resident seeking assistance from a property management company that does not specialize in care for the disabled.

If you need to get repairs made, there are easy steps that you can follow.  Submit all requests for repairs in writing, keep a copy, and note on your calendar when you submitted the request.  You can get assistance on how to do this on the renters rights website at www.oregoncat.org

I'm confused about the picture you attached.  Is this supposed to be a picture of the mold? I don't see any mold at all in the photo. I found some pictures of the property on the internet and it actually looks very well kept up.

Sometimes businesses must go through a process to do repairs like fix yard lights.  It's not always as easy as it would be for a consumer to just go to the store and buy a bulb.  The business, after they notice the light out, must get a purchase order from a corporate office that could be in another city, then they have to order one, then wait for it to arrive, then hire someone to install it if it is out of reach, etc.  I'm not saying they did everything they could, but that it is possible that the process takes more time for your apartment manager than it would for the average consumer.

If threats of violence have been made against you, call 911 immediately!  I fail to see how that could be an apartment managers fault. Sadly, there are no laws in Oregon as to how neighbors have to treat each other, so there is probably no law for the apartment manager to enforce if your neighbor is being mean to you.

If your Dr. has proof that you have been exposed to mold, that means you should clean your house.  Mold is present in Oregon because it is a moist state.  Mold is prevented by keeping it cleaned up, ventilating your home, and regulating the temperature and humidity.  If this responsibility is to much for you, there are agencies who can help teach you how to do it.  Call 211 to see if there are any agencies that help with this sort of thing (it's like calling 911, but instead of for emergencies, it's for information on how to get public assistance.)

There is no way you could know that you are receiving notices that your neighbor is not unless you are reading their mail, which is a crime, whether you are mentally ill or not. I'd be very careful about making accusations like that.

You might want to consider seeking housing in a facility that specializes in care of residents with mental illness.
