I signed a contract with Pristine Chapel on 8/28/13 for wedding services. I was told by a company representative, Brandon McGriff, that deposits were refundable. After researching further, I realized that the company strategically placed themselves in a predominatly African American community in which most of there customers are African American and the services are extremely overpriced. After deciding that I did not want to support this business, I canceled my contract and was refused a refund. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Burea and the owner, Alice Johnston, lied and said she attempted to resolve the issue. I have emailed, called, and faxed the company several times. I recieved emails back from my email server stating that my emails were identified as spam. I was promised a refund and all I want is a refund, however the company is too busy over charging and exploiting the population in the community in which they serve.

The owner's rebuttal stated to check the references. Accordingly to the research Pristine Chapel has held at least 342 weddings and or events since June27,2007. However Pristine Chapel has hard 10 google reviews, 31 reviews from WeddingWire.com,and 15 reviews from theknot.com. Although some of the reviews could be duplicates if one assumes there are no duplicates, the events reviewed are only 16% of the total events held at Pristine Chapel.
The owner also stated that the complaint was unprofessional, the public can clearly witness the poor customer service and unprofessionalism of Alice Johnston to insult and criticize customers for speaking out and demanding justice.

Exploit means to make use of meanly or unfairly for one's own advantage. Booking 3 weddings in a day and rushing events benefits no one but the owners, overcharging customers is done unfairly for the business owners advantage, lying to customers is unfairly done at the owners advantage. These are all examples of exploitation. I am speaking up for what's right which is not an insult to the community. Malicious is having or showing a desire to cause harm to someone. I do not have a desire to cause harm to Pristine Chapel or their reputation however I do expect to be treated fairly and all customers deserve to be treated fairly. I have done my research and although there has been many satisfied or accepting customers, there has been several dissatisfied customers as well. Customer service and customer satisfaction should always be a top business priority.

Exploiting is a serious accusation.
Pristine Chapel has consecutively maintained a five star reputation for over ten years. This fact is verifiable via internet. My husband, Charles and I have lived in and served the African American community of Jonesboro for twelve years.
Cancellation terms are specifically written in our contracts. Contacts are signed and reviewed in advance and can be cancelled under the terms of agreement. We make reasonable exceptions to our guidelines based on customer needs for unexpected circumstances.
It is an insult to the African American community to indicate that they would allow exploitation by anyone. Our clients are educated and they do their review research. Attempting to destroy this company’s integrity and good reputation will be difficult.
This malicious assault is unprofessional and lacking in moral conscientiousness.
