I tried to get hooked up to Private Equity Headhunters, and Frank Weston is the fast talking, always too busy, pitch man.   They hook you up for 3500 and then tell you they will take 5000 after they place you, but only agree to work with you for 30 days, "because that's all the time they'll need.  They have supposedly 40 to 50 orders from PE firms waiting to be filled.    When I tried to Fed Ex them a check, Fed Ex called me and said "there is no company here at this address."  I got suspicious.   So I actually got my 3500 back, but then they got too busy to take me on, because I pointed out that their links to the VC companies they have listed on their site are bogus, and out of date.

I would have replied earlier but I had some trouble finding who "Jim" was but our IT department matched the IP addresses to confirm the identity. I'll be courteous and wont mention this "Executive's" full name on this website but since he decided to call me a "scam" I must respond. 

"Jim", do you realize the consequences of what you have done? I wish you had consulted an attorney before making this post or at the very least reviewed the confidentiality agreement you signed and violated. I would advice you to lawyer up but unfortunately that wont help either. You don't realize that this is employers market and in my years of experience I have yet to find an employer who will fill an executive level role without running a background check on the candidate. It doesnt even matter what the outcome of the case maybe. When there are 100s of qualified candidates for 1 open position, most will reject a candidate without even asking for further explanation. They have 100s of other qualified candidates so why take the liability? I'd hate to ruin someones career but after the last bogus complaint by an individual who we later found to be a competitor, our company changed the policy to pursue legal action against those trying to hurt our reputation regardless of the cost or potential outcome.

I cannot believe this "Executive" labeled me a "scammer" for NOT accepting his money. I am always looking for qualified executives to fill senior level roles and I start by asking every candidate some qualification questions and reviewing their answers against the resume to see if we can help. I'm very selective in who I decide to work with and WE DO NOT WORK WITH EVERYONE! Normally, I'm able to determine the outcome by asking my candidates the right questions and extensively reviewing their resume before I decide to work with them. We work under a shared cost approach and we invest a significant amount of time and resources into our candidates search and believe me it costs lot more than just $3500 to finance search for an executive level role, industry average is above $12,500. This is exactly why most recruiting firms cannot work with candidates and will go out of business trying to get an employer to pay them.. There are many things which affect the outcome of the search but if candidate is being honest, more often than not I can tell if it is worth it for the candidate and my company to invest in the search based on the information provided by the candidate. In this particular case, I failed to make the determination before agreeing to work with him but after a more careful review I decided its in our mutual interest not to work together if I cannot be confident that I can find this executive the right career opportunity. By this time, the executive had already sent his payment so I called our billing department and requested them NOT to accept the payment. I had to spend hours trying to sort this mess out but finally I got approval from our CEO to not accept this executives payment. I apologized to this executive and told him that I will not be able to help him right now but if I find a good opportunity, I may get back in touch with him in January.

To prospective executive clients/candidates:

We don't work with everyone because we have to take just as much risk upfront as our candidates and if we fail to make the right decision, it can end up costing thousands in wasted time and resources. If we refuse to work with you, we are just trying to save you the money which can be spent better elsewhere. I'd still be more than happy to offer you my honest advice for FREE but both my company BUT I have now decided to fight back against desperate job seekers and competitors who think they can harm our business with these bogus complaints. We offer complete transparency, every single one of 1600+ PE companies in our network are verifiable, feel free to contact me for access to the network and you can see for yourself. We are not going to take money from people we cannot help, there are many other companies who'll gladly accept money from you regardless of what they can offer in return.

Merry Christmas to you!   I need to know if you plan to take me on in January as we have discussed or not, lest I hire another firm.  I have faith in you, and am willing to wait and continue networking, as we discussed, if you are sure you'll be a go, come week of January 6th..

How are you?  Busy as a bee?    I hope you are having success placing all 5 of your current crop.

I just wanted to make sure you got my message, that I have relented on my attempt to lower the upfront fee with your group.

I am willing to get on board at the full $3500.00 after the first of the year, and am hoping that you will still see fit to take me on as a client.

By that time I will either be a controller somewhere, or be working as an insurance agent.   I'm gonna get busy doing something.   Either way, 

that would increase my ability to network.

But as you know, I'd rather be fully engaged leading something, where my leadership, judgement, people skills, and problem solving abilities can be fully engaged..
