Professional Moving Solutions Inflated moving charges-did not use service-charged contract canellation $550 Tampa Florida

I contracted with Professional Moving Solutions to move my belongings on July 1, 2013 from Gulfport, FL to Seffner, FL and was quoted $565 for the move.

The company's representative showed up 2 hours late, and upon arrival, he had me sign the contract.  Then he did a walk through and proceeded to tell me the extra charges for stretch-wrapping my furniture, etc.  Bottom line, after he added the additional charges, the cost was well-over $2,000.  He called his office and I had a lengthy conversation with an individual there.  He said he would give me a discount of $100, and he reminded me that the contract I signed has a $550 cancellation fee.  After that conversation, I told the representative that I did not need their services and he left.

I contacted my credit card company and they credited my card in the amount of $550 in August 2013.  Then I received a letter dated October 1, 2013 advising me that charge had been reversed for the following reasons:

  "The contract overrides any verbal quotes or promises that are not included in the signed agreement.  Based on all of the information that we currently have available, we have condluded that the transaction is valid".

Further, I asked the credit card representative if he had any documents that showed the final quote on the moving day.  He does not have that information.

I contracted with Kings Movers and they moved me on July 3, 2013 and charged $1,044.

I am a retired Paralegal and I know I can take this matter to Small Claims Court.  However,I believe that the public should be aware of this company's unethical dealings.
