PSI is all about money, it is big business over there. They pride themselves in giving you the pass rate for your NCLEX State Boards, but what they do not tell you is out of a class room of 40 students approximately 7 makes it to the State Boards. And out of that 7, half repeated a class OR TWO. They fail to tell you in admissions that even if you get straight A's in the classroom, if you fail a competency, you have to repeat the entire class over (which by the way is over $2,000). They give you a long movie script to memorize and your actual hands on skills to perform on a dummy, but if you forget to say part of the movie script like "I will wash my hands" it's an automatic failure. You get two chances to pass, if you fail the second time by not saying "I will wash my hands" or contaminate the fake dummy by touching a sterile field you fail the entire class. They don't make you do it over and over until you get it right like the other Nursing Schools, and if you can't make it to open lab to practice that is just to bad.

If your not grasping the information being given to you, that's just to bad, they tell you maybe it's not for you. Monday-Friday 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. and they tell you maybe it's not for you? You can't work with the workload and the stress is unbearable. Only one teacher goes over your test to see where you are going wrong, the rest make you stand in front of the class and quickly look at the test like your going to steal it. And the one teacher that goes over the test in a group only covers the questions that most of the class missed, so if 33 students missed 1 question then maybe it's something wrong with the way that you taught the material. The other teachers throw the questions out if that many students missed 1 question, but not her, and you better not challenge her because she will tell you "your not going to win". If you take her the book and show evidence where you got the information, not only will she get mad, but she will say "O well, that is not what I said". You take a test every single day and you can't be a minute late 8:00 A.M. the door is locked and you can't take the test. If your phone rings even on vibrate that is an automatic zero.

Late for clinicals, forget about it, you failed. Take the entire class over. One student passed the entire Pharmacology class with an 88% but didn't pass this ATI Test that they have in place, and I'm sure it's not apart of the Ohio Board of Nursing Standards, she failed the entire class. A good friend of mines was late for clinicals and it was fine with the Mental Health Instructor, she went back to Mental Health Clinicals two more times and then was told that she would have to repeat the entire class over, all because that Advanced Med Surge teacher found out. And over half of the students always fail third quarter, always. They have it set up to fail. The Advanced Med Surge teacher not only gives you tests with 3-4 chapters, and 6 hand-outs to study with no direction where to study, she just say "NO EVERYTHING"! Not only is that impossible but she gives you quizzes that day after lecture and you don't know what to study, and by the way the quizzes brings everyone's grades down. You can't study all of that in 1 week so you know you can't do good with all of that information the very next day. She is ridiculous. You have to pass with a 77%, they take a 76.5 and round it up, I got a 76.1% and failed. No extra credit, no anything, just failed after 9 months of not working, driving from Michigan to Toledo everyday with these gas prices and just treated bad. This has been a horrible experience for all of us. Most of us have transferred to Athena.

The most unfair thing is they write there own test questions. All test questions should be pulled from a State and Nationwide bank. One teacher even marked my answer wrong when I chose that Extra protein builds muscle, she said it was wrong because she put the word extra in the sentence, what???

PSI review

AUTHOR: disgruntled - ()

POSTED: Sunday, October 13, 2013

This facility has an employment rate of 55% for LPNs. They do not teach their nurses to critically think. Anyone going to this that can critically think will either be expelled, or the administration will try to hold your transcripts. Call the Ohio Board of Nursing if you have problems with this school.

SO SAD

AUTHOR: Lmoore - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 23, 2013

It is pretty bad that a person can not explain what they have experienced at school or in a situation. I gladly appreciate you sharing your experience with me. I heard bad things about this school and I am checking the reviews. It is your experience and you have the right to express it. Disregard the negative comments it just shows a lot about Americans. I understand and I am pleased to have read your review. I went to Wayne State University Nursing program and it was awesome. Give it a try!!!

PSI Grad!!!

AUTHOR: PSI Grad and happy about it! - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, October 29, 2012

I am a graduate of PSI and I graduated October 2011. Yay Me!!I am sorry the writer of this rip off report feels so harshly about her outcome at this school. Nursing school is hard that the truth. I am sorry to say if it was easy everyone would be doing it! Mrs. Vetter is a great teacher and still use her nuggets of wisdom in my nursing practice to this day. Further more not everyone will fail 3rd semester I did not and I never repeated a class, so that there my friends tells you with a little hard work and dedication you can do anything! I also to drove from Michigan to Ohio for 6 out of those 12 months and I to also failed a compentency and you do get a second chance you just cant mess up on that second chance. Oh, and hand washing is a universal saftey precaution to protect you and the patient so why is that even part of the argument?

I agree

AUTHOR: Kayla - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, September 07, 2012

I agree, being exact is important when you're dealing with peoples lives. Do you want a nurse taking care of you who graduated with "C's or "A's?" Or who can't remember to wash her hands and gives you some God awful l infection.

Real world illusions

AUTHOR: ALi - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, August 30, 2012

Do you even realize what you just did? By asking "since when is fairness a students right?" you just proved what I said about the rip-off re-take policies and its there for all to read and see. PSSHH! PSI should hire me as their rep defense-troll LOL- I could do a better job than YOU!

Too bad this site wont let you go back and remove it (what goes round comes around)...oh well maybe PSI can use that cash they ripped-off from students and govt grants to bribe them to remove it and keep the money machine in motion- GOOD LUCK!!

Real World Allusions

AUTHOR: Grammer182 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, August 24, 2012

The real world is going to be full of "bosses" or supervisors that you will not like. When did "fairness" ever become a right when going to a higher level school? Life is not fair, the World is not fair! Grow up with the rest of the world and get over your petty problems. Swallow your pride, get the work done, and be successful! Quit blaming others for problems that are caused by yourself. You will be happier in the long run.

#7 Consumer Suggestion

I concur

AUTHOR: ALi - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, August 23, 2012

I agree with the entire first paragraph. It is SO set-up so you will retake 2-3 classes during the year. The trade-off is they dont have a wait to get in to their school.  They have multiple answer questions get one part of the answer wrong and your screwed-NO PARTIAL CREDIT. They make up some of their own questions that everybody will get wrong- we were reviewing for a final exam, she told us the correct answer and we were like "thats what I put on last weeks test and it was marked wrong" the teacher rolled her eyes up and said "well I MIGHT HAVE CHANGED UP ON SOME OF THEM.........."  no she didnt BUT she has to go along with the schools rip-off re-take policies because the teachers are former nurses who lost their nursing licenses for stealing narcotic drugs.

My advice is just wait it out on a school with a waiting list, its worth it.

mrs vetter produces first rate nurses

AUTHOR: tigger - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, December 17, 2011

I completed this Lpn program with honors and accredite Mrs Vetter for her handouts, quiz on lab days, hard nosed discipline approach to nurse logic, and overall passion and commitment to nursing that guided me when taking my nclex (successfully), even to date while I'm performing on the job skills. I will never forget Mrs Vetter and am grateful to have had her instruction. Class and lab was very trying but well worth my and other fellow classmates efforts and commitments. The previous writer tries make make the case as if nursing school should be easy and effortless. Hand washing is the internationally accepted process to stop the spread of infection, yeah its a big deal. Test taking either Ati, quizzed format, whatever prepares students to pass nclex. Professional skills institute nurses get hired due to the reputation that proceeds them. I had to write a rebuttal because there is no ripped off associated with Psi, just maybe some non-commited students who blame everyone for there own failures

Sorry I don't Proof Read Blogs

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 05, 2011

To: Diogenes - Averill Park (USA)

Being from a younger generation we type really fast, abbreviate, multi-task, and don't proof read Blogs. If this were a paper that had to be turned in for a grade I would take the time to do so. However, I'm just a dissatisfied consumer and student, that's all. And not only did I attend High School but I have a Business Degree that was obtained in this decade (unlike yourself I'm sure), otherwise you would not have the time to comment on something you know nothing about and attempt to make insults. And the Better Business Bureau and the Ohio Board of Nursing letters were proofread. GOD Bless You Too.

Grammar

AUTHOR: Diogenes - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 05, 2011

I have to agree with the previous poster, but whoever that was, he/she was certainly correct.  You cannot expect to be a nurse with the poor spelling and grammatical skills you possess.  Go back to school, and learn the language skills you should have learned in high school ( providing, of course, you actually attended high school somewhere ).

Hello Mrs.Vetter

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 05, 2011

I'm sure this response was from Mrs. Vetter because that is just your personality and the rudeness that you display in the classroom. I'm not going to argue or be mean but I do want to say "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you [Matthew 7:12]". You are not going to be in a position of power forever, your not young and your clock is ticking. Also, you never not what profession a student will end up in and who's paths you will have to cross again. You are a great teacher and I hope that your people skills improve. GOD bless you.

Disgruntled?

AUTHOR: Grammer182 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 04, 2011

Sounds to me that school in the real world was a little bit too much for you! I think the company may have done you a favor. I think your first step might be in the direction of some grammar lessons. If you want people to take you seriously than you should be able to communicate effectively.

Good luck to you!

Im sure that your story is completely true and I understand your frustration the one comment I had was about you getting the question wrong about extra protein. in some fields being exact is crucial and you need to be able to have those complete exact skills and know how to communicate them. im in culinary school right now and have had the same thing happen to me but im grateful for it because it will help you. i dont know anything about nursing so i don't know how close your answer was, im just commenting on the importance of knowing certain things to the t. hope i dont sound like a beyotch or anything, its not my intention  :)
