My name is Brad, and I work for Property Room. I came across your complaint, and wanted to take a moment to respond.
Property Room sells cell phones that have been recovered by police and other municipal departments. If the previous owner reported their cell phone stolen, then it would indeed be turned off.
When this is the case with a cell phone being auctioned on Property Room, it is our policy to state this is the description of the item. We also provide both the Carriers 800 number and the ESN number on our listings.
This information allows the customer to research whether the phone is on the stolen list or not. We also state in the listing that it does not come with service and may be reported stolen.
You should be able to contact the carrier and have the phone - or Blackberry in your case - reactivated.
If you don't believe that your auction had this notification, you can contact our Customer Support department at CustomerSupport@PropertyRoom.com. They can research your auction listing and, if the notification was indeed left off in error, we would be more than happy to give you a full refund.
I hope this information helps resolve your issue, and makes you feel more comfortable using Property Room in the future.
