These folks have minimal control on their Auctions, with no safeguards - you make a mistake, sorry, nothing they can do.  If you overbid and wish to take back overbid (allowed) you still have to overbid yourself a 2nd time to bring your overbid down, still and extra $6.00 unnecessary bid, contrary to their rules and regulations.  They claim they are like all other auction houses, not allowing retractions, live or Internet.  I have done both and both allow retractions for mistakes on certain occasions. People make mistakes, even on E-bay, if you make a mistake you have 2 alternatives: 1. Contact Seller to retract bid or 2. claim mistake and retract bid as long as more than 24 hrs. left on bidding.  Propertyroom.com have no such system, so they claim, and they are unable to do anything including NOT permitting you to contact Seller.  If I win bid by my mistake, they may be able to stop shipment, but still I would have to pay 15% restock fee even though they do not send it to me.  This is highway robbery & pure GREED!  The only way they will allow you to retract your bid is if they put you on their BlackList!  And then, you can never use their service again.  This may go on my Credit Report too.  They claim accredited with BBB, but you cannot find them on the BBB website.  This is an unfair company with limited resources, except GREED! which is their most important product.

Important Information About PropertyRoom.com

AUTHOR: Property Room - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, April 19, 2012

Hi there. My name is Brad, and I'm a PropertyRoom.com employee.

The person who wrote the original post above is obviously extremely upset, but their report is filled will several fallacies that I'd like to address.

The best place to start might be to give a quick overview of PropertyRoom.com.

A former Long Beach NY detective, Tom Lane, founded our company in 1999.  We conducted our first online auction in Feb 2001.  In the last 10 years over 2,800 law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and other municipal departments have contracted to do business with us.  Over time, we've expanded to work with a select group of liquidators, auctioning these items side-by-side with municipal items, most auctions starting with a $1 opening bid and no reserve.

With anyone claiming to have had a negative experience on our website, my first recommendation would be to contact PropertyRoom.com's Customer Support team. They can be reached through email at CustomerSupport@PropertyRoom.com.

Ill be the first to admit that we arent perfect nobody is but when we have a customer service issue, we take it very seriously. Our in-house US-based Customer Support team is dedicated and passionate, and they strive to respond to every email within one business day.

There are a couple of claims made in the post above that I think should be addressed directly to Wayne.

Wayne, we located your original email correspondence with Customer Support, and feel there may have been a misunderstanding of the situation. While you were told that we do not have a way to remove you as the high bidder while the auction is live, you were also informed multiple times that if you contacted us again after the auction had concluded, we would be happy to work with you with canceling the order if you did end up the winner of the auction.

In regards to the blacklist comment. This was mentioned in response to your concern that the charge might end up going through to your credit card. If we had added you to the our blacklist, it would have guaranteed that our system would catch the transaction and halt it before any charge went through to your card. Afterwards, we would have reactivated your account. This was always the intent of our Customer Support team, and I do apologize if that was not made clear enough during your email correspondence.

If these steps had all been taken, there would have been no adverse effect on your credit report.

For anyone else who may be reading this, I'm obviously offering a biased viewpoint here, so I would like to provide some links for anyone that is interested in any additional information about PropertyRoom.com

We are indeed accredited with the BBB and have an A+ rating. You can see this for yourself by clicking on the following link:
http://www.la.bbb.org/business-reviews/Auctioneers/PropertyRoomcom-Inc-in-Mission-Viejo-CA-13183617

We've also had over 100 media pieces done on us via TV, radio, magazine, newspaper and online.  You can check out this page on our site and follow the links so you can get input from someone other than me: http://www.propertyroom.com/about-us/in-the-news

Finally, you can check-out some of our law enforcement and municipal clients by going to our About Us/Company Info page.  You can also watch a short video there.

All of us at PropertyRoom.com take great pride in the work that we do, but we also understand why someone might be wary of an online company they haven't heard of before or have limited experience with. For those people, I would humbly ask that you take a few minutes to look over the information linked to above and then make up your own minds.

Best,
Brad from PropertyRoom.com
