I purchased 3 Proscan tablets for my grandchildren for Christmas. I had to make sure they were all the same. (if you have more than one child you know why they have to be) Upon opening them and charging only 2 of them worked properly. This was a catastrophe of epic proportions. I have attempted since Christmas day to solve this issue with Proscan/Curtis International.

I did purchase the tablet on 11/02/2012. It was not opened until 12/25/2012 so there was no way to know it did not work. I have learned a valuable lesson. Open the box, charge it and make sure it works before giving a present.  I can live with the "follow the rules" of the 30 day replacement even if I think it is not fair since it was fresh out of the box broken. What I can not live with is the run around I am getting in trying to get authorization to send the tablet back to have it FIXED.

I was told they do not send a shipping label but I was required to pay a $7.00 fee by phone to have a pre-authorization to send the tablet back. Hmmmm.... This was explained to me as "insurance" to be paid on the shipping BACK to me after the tablet was fixed. Again...hmmmm.... I will be paying for the shipping to have it repaired, the insurance for shipping so why can't the company suck it up and pay the $2.00 for the insurance to ship it back? Because they basically want you to pay for return shipping on the tablet that was broken in the first place. If a product does not work the minute you take it out of the box it is a manufacturers defect. If it doesn't work 45 days after you purchase it even it it HAD been opened and used I feel it is still something wrong with the tablet itself in the manufacturing process.

I do not like giving my credit card number over the phone to a company I know nothing about due to  a problem I had a year ago with a person "wiping out" my bank account by getting my debit card number.

I think a warranty should be honored. The company should take precautions to ship the tablets correctly after fixing them, pay to ship them to you, even mail you a shipping label if it has been 90 days since purchase.

I would be happy just to get a pre-authorization to ship it back at my own expense and include a $7.00 money order for them to ship it back.
