Provo Craft Cricut and Gypsy - take cartridges hostage and then provide no support South Jordan Utah

 Provo Craft has become very good at ensuring consumers purchase their products and then hold them hostage by providing inappropriate to no support.  They sell crafting cartridges from $20.00 - $120.00 and then there are only certain machines you can use them on. 

An example that has left a lot of people spending exorbanant amounts of money with nothing to show for it is the gypsy rip off.  You had to buy the gypsy machine to work with the cartridges in any sort of effective way, all cartridges have to be uploaded to the gypsy and once they were linked you could no longer link them to anything else.  The gyspy has since become defective for many users with no excuse except if you go a long period of time without using it.  The machine will no longer work, a blue light comes on but there is a black screen and the machine is deemed useless.  Now said machine has all the cartridges linked and you cannot use them with any other Provo Craft product except by physically putting them in the cutter which is ineefective and time consuming. 

Upon calling them the first time they said they could do nothing unless you bought a new gypsy and sent the old and new ones to them to have the cartridges transferred.  Even they have realized this gypsy machine is a piece of junk and have ceased producing them.  Now their next scheme is an online program that you link new cartridges but you cannot link the old ones from the gypsy because it is broken.  They have said you now have to send in the old gypsy, pay for repair, and then link the repaired gypsy to the new program.  I question how long until the cartridges that are linked to the new program are held hostage.

I and many others are now left thousands of dollars of cartridges uploaded to a useless machine that will only be released if you pay and even then it is questionable if it will work and for how long until a similar scam occurs.  It is difficult to walk away from an investment of that amount.
