Just wanted to share our bad experience with the  fractional real estate  we bought from Puerto Bahia Villas and Spa, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nayarit,Mexico last August 26, 2012.  Sharing this so other people out there who intend on buying will be cautioned.

It all started with a travel agent who had offered us some free gifts in exchange for attending a 90 minute time share presentation. We thought the gifts were awesome so we attended.  The travel agent asked as well if we have a major credit card as it is required.

Then the travel agent brought us to Puerto Bahia wherein a salesman was assigned to us to present. During the presentation, we had been offered a fractional real estate worth almost USD 16,000.  Beforehand we mentioned that we already have a time share. And the salesman mentioned that we can liquidate the timeshare so you dont have to worry about having a second one. So after giving him the details of our timeshare, he gave us an assessed value of USD 35,000.
He said this would be a good deal since after getting 35,000, we can pay off our Bahia and still have some profit. We thought it about it  and agreed since we are getting a profit and still have the Bahia paid off. This is the only reason why we agreed to buy. We still have a copy of this assessed value sheet with us as proof.

And so the sale was done that day. We gave them a down payment of US 2,000 + the recently taken out from our credit card USD1800.  By the way, that 90 minute presentation turned out to be 4-5 hours and that during the sale they mentioned that there will no 5 day cancellation option.

And so the sale went through and the sales rep was very thankful and he said he is going to treat us for breakfast the next morning. He also promised to bring the timeshare liquidation contract that
I need to sign.

The next day, we want back to the Bahia office. The meeting time is 8 am but the sales rep came at around 8:30am. He hurriedly brought us to the Marina breakfast place. While we were having breakfast, the rep got a call from his manager telling him that we are not supposed to have breakfast in the Marina. So he apologized to us and hurriedly took us back to the Bahia office. That was the rudest thing that I had ever experienced in my life. Imagine the situation, were in the middle of breakfast and then all of sudden we get told to get back to the Bahia office. This is really no respect for a customer who just bought from Bahia.  By the way, during the breakfast, we managed to sign the escrow liquidation contract that mentions the USD 35,000 amount.

Then one week after we came back to Canada, I searched for various Timeshare resellers to know the real market value of our WorldMark timeshare and apparently its only around US 3000 dollars. This is really way far from the USD 35,000 assessed amount that was promised to us. This
made us realize that we had been deceived by the sales rep as he had given us a grossly inflated amount to get the sale. How can you liquidate our timeshare for USD 35,000 when its only selling for 3000 dollars?

Got more curious and researched the net for some more info about the escrow  liquidation contract that we have.  Its true these are scams as well:

Searched the net for Puerto Bahia and found these links:

Right now we are really frustrated as the promises we are expecting from the presentation were all lies and deceiving information.  We are hoping to get a better deal out of this but in the end we are just victims of lies. I had emailed Bahia member services about this and had requested for a full refund and cancellation.  I just hope they hear me out and grant my request.

So anyways, thank you once again Ripoffreports.com for giving me a chance to share my experience. More power to your website.  This Bahia sales rep brought us a lot of stress and grief. I will never forget this. Never will I go back to Mexico again because of this experience.

So for all you Canadians out there like myself and those of you there thinking of buying fractional real estate or timeshare , please learn from my experience. Never believe all promises sales reps are saying.

Sales people guarantee that if the resort is not completly build in 2 years the client will receive all monies paid but it is not stated anywhere in the contract. Timeshare industry is full of timeshare scams like this.
