Sarah Van Assche was asked to submit a bid for my lakefront condo.  The stated budget was $100,000.  She came back with a bid for $20,000 flat fee no mark up on products.  This she placed in her won contract.

$200,000 later she has billed me another $26,000 and has kept three checks that were intended for the granite vendor, the drapery workroom and the furniture workroom.

She is holding my furniture until she is paid more money.  I have hired an attorney and will go after her so that nobody else has to endure what I have.

I have invoices from her vendors that show the real prices.  I also have emails that support this allegation.

In my opinion she is a very dishonest person.

FALSE ACCUSATIONS REPOSTED - ILLEGIBLE COPY

AUTHOR: SVA - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, February 11, 2010

The filer of this complaint is intimately familiar with the Ripoff web site because he is the Managing Director of a company that has had 73 complaints filed against it by both clients and employees who object to their complete lack of ethics in business. In addition, at least 120 complaints have been filed with the BBB against his company.

This complaint against SVAI is reflective of  Mr. Paul J. Rauseos business standard. He elicits work from contractors, avoiding written contractual agreements, and when the work is complete, he invents imperfections and refuses to pay for completed work and/or materials.  The bottom line is that Mr. Rauseo does not pay his bills. This history of his behavior can be thoroughly documented by all of his contractors and his previous interior designer, who are willing to attest to this statement.

At the beginning of this project, Mr. Rauseo established a working budget. However, Mr. Rauseo later, by his own choice, added many high end components to the project including radiant heat flooring, Smart Home technology and motorized window treatments, all of which drove the initial budget up considerably. SVAI was, in no way, responsible for any budget overages. The additional budget items were selected by and approved by Mr. Rauseo.

My initial compensation agreement with Mr. Rauseo was a flat fee arrangement for four months of work. However, the scope of work increased significantly. I continued to provide him service for an additional five months, based on his verbal agreement to compensate me further for my time. He also committed to this arrangement in writing via email.

Mr. Rauseo owes my company thousands of dollars for materials that I have personally paid for and which have been installed in his home. He also owes me thousands of dollars in additional design fees.

In addition, Mr. Rauseo owes his General Contractor, his painters, and other sub-contractors thousands of dollars as well, who are all quite anxious to collect for their services.

The photograph that Mr. Rauseo attached to his complaint was taken during construction. It is misleading as it shows the radiator covers pulled away from the wall (by him), exposing portions of the wall that are completely hidden when the radiator cover is properly placed.
