I contacted Ram Residential August, 2012 for a roof estimate. Their sales pitch is that they can get your home insurance to pay for roof damage so that you would not have to pay for the roof. My insurance company came out and agreed that there were several areas of damage, the roof, one section of the gutter, the garage shingles (just a few of them), and a hole in my shed. I agreed to the job and then the waiting game started. This was in early september. This time I also found out that I have cancer, so my life was turned upside down.
The job did not get started until the day before thanksgiving, and not finished until friday afternoon. Prior to the job they put a portable garbage truck to catch the debris from the roof. When they put that in they ruined my asphalt because it took almost a month for them to remove it from my property.
When they sold me the roof job, the salesman said there were three or four sheets of plywood to be replaced. but when they stripped the roof they found out that they were all bad. The insurance company would not cover any of it, but there was left over plywood planks from the shed repair and they were to use those on the roof, reducing the cost. The charge that occured did not reflect this.
They replaced the roof, which is now looking like the shingles are not flat against the roof, in fact they look like there is a problem with them lying down flat.
The ridge vent is not lying flat against the peak, in fact, it looks like it is about to fall off.
They took off my satellite dish, and never replaced it, allowing it to flap against the side of my house.
The garage roof does not look like any of the shingles were replaced.
The roof line of the shed where they fixed the hole is not in a straight line, it looks like a repair job was done, badly.
My gutters were okay before they touched the job, now they are hanging off of the clips. Coincidentally now I need new gutters for the complete house when they never indicated that I needed them before.
They contacted me a few times, and due to illness I might have missed some of their calls.
I have paid half of the roof, and I refuse to pay the other half until rest of the work is done.
They have indicated that I need new wood for my roof so that they can put the gutters back. I am willing to pay for that. But really, the only thing I want done is what the insurance said to be fixed.
They advertise that they clean up after themselves, but keeping the rolloff in my side yard for a month is unacceptable. They also ruined some of my plant bedding with their canvas.
I was willing to pay for the wood repair only, NOT replacing the gutters, and the man I dealt with, either Matt or Zach said they would get back to me with a price, that was two months ago. I havent heard anything from this company since, until yesterday when I got a collection notice that I owed the balance for the roof.
I am refusing to pay this because how do I know that they will come back and do the remainder of the work?
The only reason I hired this company, ( and I had gotten numerous estimates) is that they advertised on WMUZ, our Christian radio station. I also found out that they sub contracted the work I was not happy about it, I was under the impression that they did the work themselves.
When they finished my roof in November they said that it would be a while before I got my gutters fixed was that they were backed up on their jobs.
I also was quoted from Zack or Matt the total price of the roof that remained after a two thousand dollar deposit. It was quoted as 3961. and when I got the notice from the collection agency it was over four thousand dollars.
I am dying of cancer, and I wanted the work done before I got to a point where I couldnt do anything. I cannot get in contact with the owner, but on the radio station they are constantly advertising this company.
I should have looked them up on the computer, for they have had some complaints either about the jobs they have done or the quality of the work.
I am very disappointed that my radio station would promote a company who cannot or will not finish their work.
I am willing to pay for the work to be completed, but the only leverage I have is to withhold payment so that they will finish their work.
I know I will never hire them again.
I had orginally wanted them to fix a board on my garage. The salesman quoted, "It wouldnt cost more than one hundred dollars," when they came out to estimate the job, it was almost a thousand dollar job. It only required a replacement of a fascia board so that the insurance company would see that it was fixed. I had gotted quotes of one hundred fifty and two hundred dollars for the same job.
I cannot believe this is happening. I hired a company to fix my roof, so that my last days would be comfortable, and I am now involved with this trouble.
