I had been looking for a beginner safe horse for a long time.  I had been hurt trying horses out before and since she advertised safe horses, a friend and I went up to check out her horses last fall.  Cyndi was very friendly (of course, she's a sales person) help me get over my fear some.  My friend also rode and she also had been injured in the past so we felt really safe on the mare I was looking at.  The mare was very thin, Cyndi said it was because she just moved her with some dominate horses that kept her away from the hay and food.  Which could have happened.  I was not looking for a perfect horse, just safe. After thinking long and hard on my drive home I decided to purchase her.  I figured I could fatten the mare up and get her into shape. So we met Cyndi at a arena she was showing at and payed for and picked the horse up.  My husband was not happy because she was so thin, but I assured him we can fatten her up.  I never signed or recieved any paper work.  She requested part of the money be in cash and the rest I paid with a check.

The following day less than 12 hours  after picking her up I  had her vet checked.   Had one of her legs x-rayed, and the vet told me she may or may not ever be sound again.    The vet also informed me that it take a horse about five to six months to get in the condition she was in. Also when I did feed her which was the same protein level of feed she said she had been feeding, she had diarrhea.  She had diarrhea on the way home from picking her up.  So whatever she was eating was going straight thru her.  Which all I feed her was pellets, coastal hay and water.  The vet also informed me that on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being great, that this horse was a 2,  for her weight.

I was looking for a lifetime partner in the horse. After all the new information I tried call her and no answer, I stopped payment on my check.  When she did finally called I told her I wanted to bring the horse back and I had stopped payment on the check.  She of course was not happy with me.  We made a fast trip back to houston to return the horse.  Her husband was really rude,  I gave her a copy of the x-rays and vet report for the horse and told her to buy some hay for the horses so at least they would have something to eat.  After looking at the other horses on the property they where all very thin.  She said she had hay, which I never saw, the horses I saw that night where eating whatever they could find dirt, poop, etc. there was not any hay for them.

I would not recommend buying anything from these people.

I have also purchased horses from ranchpony that turned out to be sick.

AUTHOR: theark - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, February 02, 2012
I purchased three horses in a short span of time from ranchpony. All three had eyes that were noticeably draining by the next day. One of them, a pony, also had dark green drainage from both nostrils by the time I got him home. He required three days of Antibiotic injections. I treated all three with Terramycin eye ointment as well. All respiratiory and other illnesses have an incubation period, so I know they did not get it here. None of my other horses had been sick at the time I brought the new horses in, or any other time previously. I attributed it at the time to the fact that these people buy and sell a lot of horses, and likely do not quarantine any of them. I subsequently allowed their company to take a beloved APHA mare of mine to their trainers in Caldwell, Texas, and she was then Killed during training. (that's what I was told) I have also filed a Ripoff Report, and have sought legal representation as well. I do NOT recommend this company for anyone looking to buy a horse, sell a horse, or have a horse trained. PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE!
