I requested withdrawal from my intermediate coding class, as I didn't feel that I was getting the quality education that I paid good money for.  My student advisor just kept making excuses for my coding instructor stating that she is following Rasmussen guidelines; however, there are a few instances where she did not follow the Rasmussen guidelines with regard to timely grading of assignments which I provided examples in my email complaint to the school.

In addition to the late graded assignments, I reached out to my instructor for which I never received a response from my instructor regarding my concerns and questions.  I requested a meeting with my instructor to discuss assignments which she never scheduled.   There were also questions from other students in class posted in the general course questions that our instructor never responded to and when brought to my student advisor more excuses were made or I was told that the matter had been addressed; however, no improvement was made in the class.

Upon withdrawal from the class I was advised that I would not be refunded for this class, and that I would have to retake the class and pay again and that there was no guarantee that I would not get the same instructor.  I was getting a B in the class upon my withdrawal, I probably would have passed the class but chose to withdrawal due to the fact that I did not feel I was learning what I should to be successful in the class and to continue on in the future advanced coding classes that were to follow in my degree program.

Apparently, Rasmussen College has no repercussions for instructors who are not providing feedback, instruction, and helping students to be successful in their classes.   And we as the students have no alternative but to pay for a class that we are not getting the quality education that we have already paid for, and are forced to simply tough it out even if we are not gaining the required knowledge to be successful in future classes and in our program and that is okay for Rasmussen as long as you are getting your payment for the class I suppose.

I have yet to get a resolution from Rasmussen the director of student affairs has left me a voice mail but has yet to make contact with me since I withdrew from their college, and I have yet to be refunded for my coding class for which I paid for through student loans.  I have since reported Rasmussen to the BBB, no resolution has been made to date.

Rasmussen update

AUTHOR: Melody O. - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 03, 2013

I received a call from Rasmussen today, and after adivising my side of what happened was advised that I will be refunded for the class, as there was lack of communication and my student advisor left the school and didn't forward my complaint to anyone at the school.  I will update again once I receive the refund check.
