I am so outraged, I can hardly write this report. Thinking I was signing up for a $3.95 CD on grant researcching, I gave my account info online. Next thing I knew I had been charged $49.95 for three months in a row for WHAT???? I had never gone to their site once after ordering the CD, which I did get. I should have been more vigilant and have noticed the charges on my bank account, but I got busy and did not check.

I first emailed the company with the email below written below:

I just noticed that you have been charging my bank account for three months now for $49.95!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOR WHAT??????

I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT authorize you to do so and the only charge I authorized was the ONE TIME charge for $3.95 on April 3, 2006. There are no words to express how angry I am. THIS IS A SCAM OF THE WORST KIND. HOW DARE YOU?????

This is to inform you that I am giving you ONE (1) day to respond to this email and credit back to my bank account the THREE UNAUTHORIZED amounts of $49.95 before I turn your company in to:

Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Onguard Online
Better Business Bureau Online
Internet Crime Complaint Center
National Fraud Information Center
Rip-off Report Corporate Advocacy, Business Remediation & Customer Satisfaction Program
Consumer Sentinel
Econsumer.gov and my state attorney general

You have all the information you need to credit my account. DO IT NOW!

I recieved this email in response:

I'm sorry; but we are unable to process cancellations or refunds online. If you wish to do any of the above, please call our Customer Service at 1-866-370-7270.

Business Hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00am - 6:00pm Mountain Standard Time (GMT -7 hours.)

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
Sincerely,

The Grant Search Assistant E-Mail Support Team
~ If you need further clarification, please don't hesitate to ask.

When I called the number they gave, I had to wait 22 minutes on hold, but finally got through to a real person. She informed me that I had agreed to the terms which were at the bottom of the page on the site (they were not - at least not when I made my CD purchase. I noticed that they had been revised the month after I had bought the CD)

I got a little loud and informed the woman that I was NOT stupid and would never agree to $49.95 being taken out of my account for three months for something I do not, nor would never, use. She said she was sorry, but I had agreed to the terms.

I then informed her that I would be turning the company in to:
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Onguard Online
Better Business Bureau Online
Internet Crime Complaint Center
National Fraud Information Center
Rip-off Report Corporate Advocacy, Business Remediation & Customer Satisfaction Program
Consumer Sentinel
Econsumer.gov
and my state attorney general

She asked me to wait on hold for a moment. When she came back she said that her supervisor had refunded three payments of $49.95 back to my bank account. She gave me a confirmation number and now we shall wait and see!!!!

EDitor's Suggestions on how to get your money back!

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.

CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

And good luck Let us know how you do!

Thanks for your report

I just wanted to thank Karen for filing her compaint with rip off report it saved me the same headache she went through. This compnay in no way makes any effort to let you know your going to be billed monthly unless you cancel after the 7 day free period they claim to offer. I say claim because in my case when I called to cancel I was given three confirmation numbers ( who knows what they were for) and was told my free 7 day period was being denied me. They told me that they offer you the free seven days to look things over because the CD you just got scammed into payiny 3 bucks for wouldn't arrive for ten to fourteen business days.

The three bucke was for expedited shipping so you see if you had waited until you got your CD you would already be into these people for money and still wouldn't have a clue as to how they were going to teach you to make money from Google money profit. This may not be a total scam....but I won't do business with a company who chooses to hid all the important costs to this program way down deep in the fine print. The sooner they go out of business the sooner the complaints will stop regarding this company.

Resolution Offer

AUTHOR: Ryan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 13, 2006

First of all let me offer my sincerest apologies to Karen. There are no commitments with the free product. There is a bonus free trial period to the membership websites that accompanies the free CD and we do our best to disclose this as it is stated on the sales page, the order page, the confirmation page and in the confirmation email. The trial period is free for 14 days and we would not have charged Daniel had he cancelled during the trial period. It is not our desire to bill clients who do not want the membership after the free trial offer.

If you are another customer that is reading this and you feel that we have failed you in some way please call me directly at 435-773-1795 or email me at ryanr@wskc.org and I would be happy to address your concerns ASAP.

Sincerely,

Ryan R.
