I have helped companies marked away from these reports but this is the first, even as an SEM guy, to write because of how disguested I was by the service of Ray Skillman. I found their website online and researched a car I wanted. The car stated call for details. I looked up the Kelly Blue Book and found the car was worth at the most $6,700 in excellent condition, which incorporates about 2 percent of all vehicles on the road as shown here http://www.kbb.com/kbb/UsedCars/PricingReport.aspx?YearId=2001&VehicleClass=UsedCar&ManufacturerId=32&Condition=Excellent&ModelId=221&PriceType=Retail&VehicleId=4738&Mileage=73000&SelectionHistory=4738%7C32592%7C46202%7C0%7C0%7C183403%7Ctrue. [continued below]....
I gave Ray Skillman a call and spoke with Elaine. She took my information and setup an appointment but told me she had to pick up her kids so she wouldn't be there for the appointment. She told me the vehicle was $6,850 to purchase so I went down to the lot. I am driving through the lot with my fiance just looking at the other available cars and we are literally being followed by a man so obese he was about 5 pounds from being in a wheel chair. We stop and are instantly attacked, "didn't know if you where ever going to stop." He takes us over to a little office where I fill out another application.
The finance manager comes out after speaking two women. In front of me the salesman, the receptionist and my fiance he announces she didn't qualify for financing. I have never seen a business with such neglect for private information. I am not sure of the Managers name but he was a taller bald guy. Now this guy gets to me and asks me a few questions and takes a look at my drivers license. I moved last month so he asks about my drivers license address and then goes into a rant about how the terrorist are using cars to blow people up and that's why the DMV is getting so strict about it. I think he must have an IQ of at least 90 to have such a profound knowledge of terrorist activity. I personally hadn't heard of any car bombings being a big problem in Indiana and terrorist certainly are not going to register the car that will be blown up in their name, and if they are pulling parts from it maybe this guy never heard of a junk yard.
I get into his little cubicle office and we start talking about terms and car prices. I told him the calculated payment he made was way off base from what I was quoted earlier that day. He then tells me that he wants 10,000 - 11,000 for this 1991 vehicle that I was told was 5,000 less and KBB says is really worth about 5 grand. The whole atmosphere of the dealership felt sleazy and dirty like I would imagine a w***e house would feel. Stay away from Ray Skillman, www.rayskillman.com.
